Bite is enjoying fair health,. Her husband, Anton, died in 1V36. Both Mr./,and Mrs. Zurcher were born in Switzerland and camk to this coutitry in 18S2 and Wer<» married that same year. Holthouse, 6:30 p.m. T HOBO PARTY HELD BY DELT SORORITY A jsix thirty o’clock dinner began the activities Tuesday evening for members of Delta Theta Tau sorority, who held a hobo party at the Elks home. The guests arrived approptiately dressed and entered the entertaining rodtns-, which were cleverly outlined with decorations along the theme of the party. Small tables were covered with newspapers and bottles with small ctfn'dles in them were used as centerpieces.. Miniature hobo sacks marked each guests's place. pledging and initiation services were held prior to the dinner, for five new members. Mrs. Lyle Mallonee, Mrs. Bill Lichtenstiger, Mrs. Dick Mansfield, Jr.. Miss Joan Fuelling and Miss Mary Lou York, who were welcomed into the sorority. . Games furnished the entertainment and this followed with a short business meeting. The president. Miss Catherine Weidler, conducted the session, at which time plans were made for the banquet fend national inspection slated for November 6. The president made several announcements and the meeting closed. ? The committee for the entertaining evening were Miss Ann bass. Thelma Hendricks, Moosehaven chairman, requests her committee ,to meet Thursday evening at the Moose home at seven o’clock, Mr. and. Mrs. Stewart W. McMillen of Valley left today for Beacdx, Fla , where they will spend the winter at The Cloisters. Cal Peterson and Mrs. J. H. Heller returned last evening from Birmingham, Mich., where they attended the funeral services for their cousin, Mrs. Fannie peVilbiss Newton, who died unexpectedly Saturday night. Mrs: Newton had spent the evening at the home of friends a few blocks away and drove home at 11 o’clock. Mr. Newton heard the car enter the drive and turned on the light. When she failed to come in he went to (he door to find her clinging to the car door. He assisted her into the house wtiere she died in a few minutes. She had not been ill and her demise came as a shock to the family and her host of friends. Services were held at the Hamilton mortuary in Birmingham with interment in a Detroit cemetery. Dr. George Arthur Frants, pastor of the First Presbyterian church at Indianapolis and recognized 1 as one 1 of the outstanding ministers in the nation, author of numerous spiritual books, will be the speaker at tonight’s meeting of the men’s Presbyterian club at Van Wert, O. Sandra Marbaugh of Willshire, 0., is a patieht in the Van Wert, 0., county hospital. Mr. and Mrs.- Fred Fuelling are the parents, of a baby boy born today at the hospital and weighed 9 lbs. ' GIRLSCOUTS Brownie Trbop 1' held a regular meeting at the Lincoln school recently. The meeting opened -with the pledge to the flag and we made Halloween plans. Secretary To Chicago For Parley Walter Ford, Chamber of Commerce secretary, is in Chicago, 111., today, on a mission that may bring another Industry into Decatur. j Ford said he was contacted by Pennsylvania railroad officials this week and told that a party in Chicago wished to speak to him regarding Decatur’s industrial pos- , sibilities. " — . Hilltoppers Appear Here Tuesday Night Nancy Lee and the Hilltoppers, a WO WO favorite, appeared in Decatur last night at the Lincoln school. The proceeds from the approximately 200 people present will go to the firemen’s association of Decatur, promoters of the entertainment. Christmas Crafts Institute Monday Institute In City Afternoon, Evening Plans are now complete the Christmas crafts institute Monday. Those helping with the instruction will be Miss Ey|? Kewitt, Mrs. Arthur Koeneman, Mrs- Floyd Morrison, Gloria Koeneman, and Anna K. Williams. Miss kewitt, b teacher in the Berne school, will have the gift wrapping section. She will prepare an exhibit of wrapping ideas, rib-' bon bows, ttc.. as well as a mimeograph leaflet of instructions. These will be available throughout the afternoon and Miss Kewitt will be at the institute all evening to assist those who wish to practice making the variqus types of ribbon bows or receive additional instructions on the wrapping of bdkes of different shapes. The craft of candle making will be under the, direction of Mrs. Arthur Koeneman of Preble township. She has made many candles ot different types. Those who wish to make candles should bring used candles, crayons, and wax if they can. ’. Mrs. Floyd Morrison of Decatur, who has helped her church group to make Christmas for sale, will teach others to make this attractive tree r ornament. They are made with paper strips, coated with wax and sprinkled with glitter. Pine cones can bfe waxed anld. decorated also. A display of hand made Christ-j mas cards, table favors, etc., will be on exhibit. Patterns may be copied and Gloria Koeneman, county 4-H leader, will help those who need instruction on the tochnitiues of their construction. The home demonstration agent, Anna K. Williams. w|U have a booth on sweets for gifts. This will include instructions dn the decora‘ion of loaf sugar and pretty easy-to-do candies. Supplies for the craft work will be available at the school at cost price. Everyone interested is inVised to come for as long as they tike between the hours of 1 in the afternoon ahd 10, in the evening. ~ The _ Christmas handicraft day will be held at the Allis-Chalmers farm store on highway 27 in Deca,tulr. j
