I Today's Sport Parade i | (Reg. U. 8. Pat. Off.) | By Jack Cuddy I—— 4 ——? 0 NEW YORK, UP—Working ion the theory that the early Worm doesn’t get the bird, we'll hurdle a full season today and present Fearless Fraley’s 1952 collegiate All-Ainerica football team. , Despite the rather general “deemphasis” .on the Nation's college gridirons, there is usual quota of beef, brawn, speed and slinging•abiiftly. Come December there still will be All-America teams and bowl games. ; ■ , So, as the saying goes, let’s get with’it. > First Team ‘ J * E. Frank McPhee, Princeton. T. Dick. Modzelewski, Mary-, land. ' ‘. G. Nick! Chickillo, Miami. C. TomlCatlin. .Oklahoma. G: Bijl' (Athey, Baylor. *T. Doug Atkins, Tennessee. E. Barkier. Washington State. B. Harrjy Agganih. Boston U. B. Bobby Reynolds, Nebraska. B. John Scarbath, Maryland. B. John Olszewski. California. Sechnd Team Paul Dekker, Michigan State. Ed Meadow, puke, John Michels, Tennessee. \ Don Moomaw, i Chet Miller, Holy Cross. Bob Penn. Lowell\Perty, Michigan. Don Heihrich, Washington. Billy Vessels, Oklahoma. Paul Giel, Minnesota. Alan Anjieehe, Wisconsin. Such a | lineup, baturally,' excludes a host* of super players who may crqck into the forefront pome, season’s end. But you can't squeeze more than 22 playepd into 22 places, unliess you go two platoon. As of the! moment /that's art impossibility and most of these lads go both ways anyhow. The possibilities include such ends as Harrj- Babcock of Georgia and Clemson’s Tom Scott. Front and center among the tackles are SMU’s Bil| Forester and Don Tate of Illinois while Marvin Matuszak of Tulsa could coime on to take st guard spot. , i Apparently the top competition for Catlin and Moomaw is Gebrgia Tech’s George Morris. Backs again are a dime a dozen, and most coaches would like to have a nidkel'q,worth of such!challengers as UCLA’s Paul Cameron, Notre Dame’s 'Johnny-pamet and Neil Worden or Alabama’s Bob Marlow, just to name a few sparklers. . i • ( , \ | Ji ...■■■ Looking at Lt from a doublebarreled. standard of pbwer payoff and headline collection.
