Governor Stevenson Undergoes Checkup Illinois Governor Returns To Office SPRINGFIELD, UP — Gov. Adlai E. Stevenson, described as “raring!’ to get back to was expected to leave Memorial hospital Friday after a “checkup” on his physical condition, Stevebson entered the hospital Wednesday night and took a series of tests Thursday. His aides said there was nothing seriously wrong but the 52-year-old governor wanted to "find out what’s been bothering him for the past few weekk.” It was reported that Stevenson had been suffering from a stomach disorder. He was feeling ill when he returned here Wednesday night from a three-day flying trip that took him to the east coast. Stevenson had several engagements hooked for the next several days. His aides were trying to talk him into cancelling them and just resting at the executive mansion for a few days. However, William I.
