GROUP ATTENDS DISTRICT MEETING AT MONTPELIER \ Several member of the Rebekah lodge of Decatur attended the semi-annual district meeting of • district 31 at Social Rebekah lodge in the I. O. F."sidH at Montpelier recently. . y_. . The district deputy president, Juanita Hawkins of Montpelier, was in charge of the business'! and’' Mrs. Harriett WiMf of Cross Plains, u president of the Rebekah assembly i. of the I. O. (). F. of Indiana. conducted the school of instruction. The Decatur lodge was awarded the white gavel for having the largest ,percentage membership A gain. The Montpelier Ifitlge was given the “Juanita Hawkins” traveling trophy for having the most members in afternoon attendance. The Montpelier Gerrgan bandfurnished Special entertainment arid, a banquet followed, with the Gamma Nu sorority serving the dinner. During the evening session, an impressive memorial service was given by the Petroleum group. Naomi Rebekah No. 3 bf Muncie-exemplified the degree of V Rebekah of Odd Fellowship for a glass of candidates. Julia Loveless, past president, Ruth Salisbury, -vice-president and Pearl Gobler, secretary, among other distinguished guests. ■■■ Center will be hostess for-the next district meeting to be held next fall. ADAMS COUNTY CHORUS HOLDS REHEARSAL Members of the Adams County Chorus met recently for rehearsal at the Monroe school. The selections were practiced for the program that was presented at the Presbyterian church in this city last Tuesday. Station WKJG recorded 1 the event; which will be re-broadcast May 1 at eight thirty that morning over’ the Fort Wayne station. Noble ‘Reynolds, president, conducted the business meeting which was held following the rehearsal. ' > . . - i OWW b ' MISS MARTHA LAURENT, ' HONORED WITH SHOWER , Mrs. Joseph Brennan entertained at the Elks home Wednesday evening with a miscellaneous shower for her niece. Miss Martha I Laurent, brrae-eleot of Mriy 24. The entertaining rooms were beautifully tdecorated < quets of spring flowers. Upon arrival the honored guest was presented a corsage. The guests were , served dessert’-at small tables decorated with lighted tapers and greenery. Each place was marked with a- favor. I .■ r v Contests were played and prizes awarded to Mrs. Charles Btmdbeck, Mrs. Severin Schurgefj Mrs. Don Laurent, Mrs. John McDowell, and Miss Georgia Laurent, who in turn presented them to Miss Lahirent. COMPLETES PLANS Arrangements have been completed for the .summer “round-up” program, sponsored by the Monmouth P. T. A. Physical exainim ation for all children who are to start 1 school In September will be given Tuesday. May 13 at the Monmouth school from eight to ten thirty o’clock that morning. Local optometrists will be on hand this year to give eye examinations also. The round up program is for all children from I Preble, Root and Union townships. This includes both public and parochial schools. All parents of such children who have not been notified, are urged to contact Mrs. Herbert Braun, chairman of the health committee, or other members of this committee.
