Kansas Whips Si. John's In College Final Seattle. Wash., March 27—(UP) Skyscraping, record-smashing Clyde Love lie tte was acclaimed today for an historic performance as he and his Kansas Jayhawks teammates celebrated their N.C.A.A. basketball championship. The six-foot, nine-inch Lovellette, an almost unanimous selection as th£ “most valuable player’* of the tournament, ripped 33 points through the cords last night as ‘Kansas took the crown by trouncing St. John's, 80 to 63, in the final round. • The victory placed Kansas against southwest Missouri, winter of the N.A.1.8. tournament, in the opening round of the Olympic tryout tournament in Kansas City, Saturday night! Chuck Davey Wins Over Ike Williams Chicago, March 27. -r- (UP) — Chuck Davey, a dancing southpaw welterweight who won four collegiate boxing championships, held his boxing degree Cum Laude today. The 26-year-old Michigan Rtate scrapper won it with a technical knockout triumph at 1:47 of the fifth round over one of the game’s most rugged fighters, former lighV weight champion Ike Williams.
