tri kappa sorority / IN SOCIAL PARTY ' Members of the Tri Kappa sorority met ,at the Elks home Tuesday evening for a social ,party. After a very short business meeting in which it was decided to hold a bake sale Saturday at the city hall, the social hour followed. Ringo was enjoyed with refreshments served later by the host esses, Mrs. Robert Aeschliman, Mrs. Harold August. Mrs. James Kocher and Miss Dorthy Schnepf The next business meeting will be held with Miss Worthy Schnepf on April 1 at seven thirty o’clock. BETTY LOUISE McKEAN ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Marion JtfcKean of near Monroe announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty Louise, to SgtrGene L. Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Myers ot Fifth street. Miss McKean attended Adams Central high school Sgt. Myers graduated front Decatur high school and at pfesent is sttv tioried at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, HL Weddjng plans have not Iteen completed. • M • ADAMS CENTRAL PTA MEETS MONDAY The Adams Central PTA met Monday evening at the school to honor the coach and members of the basketball team. A pot-luck supper was served to the members and guests at six thirty o’clock, followed with a concert given by i the school hand. ’ < The Rev. Peters, pastor of the St. Paul church in Monroe, gave the invocation and Paul Lobsiger. PTA president, conducted the business meeting which followed. Election of officers took place with the results as follows, president. Zerl Lautzenhiser. first vicepresident. Martin Steiner, second vice-president, Ivan * Heave; secretary. Mrs. Warren Lehman, and treasurer. Mrs. William Griffiths. It was. also voted to hold preschool examimnations for the children again this year. •

CHURCH GROUP MET RECENTLY The W.S.C.S. of the Mt. Pleasant church met recently wit> .Mrs. Frank Singleton. The rp e ®t-teK was conducted by the president. Fuhrman read the lesson and Mrs. Jess Singleton led in the prayed. MEETING OF CHURpH GROUP IS HELD The Evening Circle of, the First Methodist W.S.C,S. met with Mrs. Alfred Beavers recently with twenty members five guests present. Roll call was: answered and the minutes r^adc and approved of the last meeting. Devotions were given by[ Mrs. Walter and records of ‘-Hymns of all Churches” played and enjoyed. A lesson?! taken front the program booklet. “The -Earth is Our Lord’s” was presented* by Mrs Ralph Allison, followed with the financial arid other reports given by the W.S.C.S. president, Mrs* W. P. Robinson. A nominating committee for the election of officers was appointed with Mrs. Hugh Andrews.- chairman. and assisting het, Mrs. Alfred Beavers and Mrs.' Carl Gerber. After somo discussion, it was decided to hold a workshop at the next few meetings with the committee of Miss Wilma Andrews. Mrs. Floyd Reed and Mrs. Hugh
Andrew's in charge. £ The next meeting taking the place of the one in April, will be heljl at the home of Mrs. Nila Neal Mgrch 25 to complete the Easter doll project and members are asked to bring material for twc dolls. CYNTHIA ANN GEHRIG OBSERVES IST BIRTHDAY Miss Cythia Ann Gehrig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Gehrig, celebrated her first birthday Tuesday with two parties given her by her grandparents, Mr? and Mrs. Milton C. Werling of Preble and Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Gehrig of this city, ( Cythia received many lovely giftis. Those present were the grandparents, her parents. The president. Mrs. James Darr, opened the meeting with the scripture from the Corinthians, with volunteer prayer following. Dipnpr was served at six o’clock to thie members by the Women- of the Moose, with a program following. ; The theme for the evening’s entertainment was “Bit-O-Blarney’ and the tables were decorated witl\ Shamrocks, miniature castles, blarpey, stones and potted begonia plants, which were later given as prizes. 1 Several Irish songs were sung by pick 'Reidenbach, accompanied by Miss Helen Haubold on the piano'.
