Decatur, Indiana, Monday, February 25, 1952.

GREETINGS from the Decatur Daily Democrat to the basketball players, coaches, school officials and fans • oi Adams county on the eve of the 1952 sectional tourney. —oOot—--THE 1951-52 season was a pretty rough one on the Adams county teams, with only two of the nine quintets finishing above the 50-50 mark, topped by the great record of the Hartford Gorillas. The Pleasant Mills Spartans were the only other team to win more * games than they lost during the campaign. HERE WE GO AGAIN!' For the 13th consecutive year, since ,the sectional has been held in Decatur every year since the building of the present gym, BASKETBAWL will make ah attempt to pick the winner of every game. In the past 12 years, we have batted exactly 50 percent in picking the ultimate winner, but in only one year have we hit every game correctly. That was in 1941. \ This year looks like the toughest of any to pick. Here are BASKETBAWL’S guesses for the 1952 sectional, game by game: / '"** l 000- *" BERNE-HARTFORD r-i The outstanding season record of th® Oorillas woukbaeeni to leave no choice here. We pick HARTFORD. T - GENEVA-MONMOUTH —- Have met twice, each winning once. Maybe a tossup. We pick MONMOUTH. —oOo— \ YELLOW JACKETS-HARTFORD — The Gorillas’ fine record still cannot beif overlooked against the defending dhamps. We pick HARTFORD. —' 000 • COMMODORES-PLEASANT MILLS — The Spartans won from the Commodores in their only meeting of the season. We pick PLEASANT MILLS. 'I —oOo— >, ADAMS CENTRAL- JEFFERSON —The Greyhounds defeated the Warriors twice in regular season play. We pick ADAMS CENTRAL. —oOo— ■'( ; MONMOUTH-HARTFORD — The Gorillas whipped the Eagles in the season opener, and we still can’t overlook that fine record. We pick HARTFORD. -oOo— ' -J • ! PLEASANT MILLS - ADAMS CENTRAL — The Spartans downed the Greyhounds twice during the season.
