St. Joe Wins - CilySeries Grade Title ! 6t. Joe won the Decatur grade school championship Tuesday afternoon, edging out Decatur junior - high, 21-19, in a hard-fought defensive battle at the Commodores gym. : \ •'■ fi St. Joe held a IM? lead with one minute to play but Kelley worked loose underneath for Junior high to knot the count at IM9. Faurote hit for St. Joe with only seconds to- go. Junior high obtained one more shot but failed to bit and St. Joe took the city title. » St. Joe had won the first game of the series, 26-19. Junior high started yesterday’s game as if bent on evening the eeries, counting seven points in the first quarter while holding St. Joe scoreless. The eventual champs, however, turned the tables in the second period, holding Junior high to three points while scoring 11, giving St’. Joe an 11-10 advantage at the half, which they increased to 15-13 at the third period. The teams were tied at the first quarter, 13-13, but Bryant held a 34-25 advantage at the half and a 48-40 lead at the third Masters and Minch paced the ‘ Owls’ victory with 18 points each. Eagles Defeat Adams Central Tuesday Night The Monmouth Eagles, jumping out to an early lead, defeated the Adams Central Greyhounds, 51-37, at the Monmouth gym Tuesday night. The Eagles led at all periods, 133, 27-14 and 36-?5. Scoring was well divided for loth teams, Russ Walchle leading Monmouth with 14 points, and Bob Mitchel topping Adams Central with 11. Adams Central will meet the Commodores at the Decatur gym Tbufsday night, while Monmouth will rest until Feb. 22, when the Eagles meet Harlan at Monmouth.
