CHALMER MILLER A miscellaneous bridal shower w&s given at the home of Mrs. Lauren Shoaf recently in-honor of Mrs. Chalmer Miller, Mrs. Shoaf and Mrs. Dessie Jothnson were hostesses. * Games and contests were enjoyed during the evening, and after the bride opened her many lovely gifts the hostesses served refreshments. PROGRESSIVE WORKERS MEETING ON THURSDAY The Progressive Workers Class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church held their regular meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hesher. David Wynn, class president, conducted the short business.meeting. after which various games and contests were enjoyed. > Refreshments were served later in the evening. PAST PRESIDENTS OF CLUBS ORGANIZE An organisation of the past presidents of Adams county's home economics club was formed last wqek. Mrs. Noel Hemphill was elected chairman, Mrs. Noah Habegger, vice-chairman, and Mrs. Harry Crowhover secretarytreasurer. , The organization took place at a luncheon for all past presidents that was arranged by a committee _ appointed by the 1951 home economics council. The meal was served at noon to fifty-one former executives and two guests at the Decatur Zion Evangelical and Reformed church. i ! ’ The installation of the county officers of the Adams county home economics association was the main feature of the program. Mrs. Clarence Kimmer, state ; president of the Indiana home demonstra- ■>, tion association, conducted the installation ceremony. She presented each officer with a pink rose as she 'gave them their ' charge of responsibility. Officers Installed were: president, Mrs. Albert Beineke; vice president, Mrs. Glen Schaadt; second vice-president, Mrs. Harold Zeigler; secretary, Mrs. Edwin Bauman; assistant secretry, Mrs. Alton Corson; treasurer, Mrs. R. C. Hersh. \Mrs. Elmer Becker of Allen county, who served the Fort Wayne district as executive enember of the Indiana home demonstration association gave a report of the state meeting January 24. Mrs. Henry Heiman read a poem that had been prepared for the occassion by Mrs. Clarence McKean. Mrs. McKean was the first president of the Profit and Pleasure club but could not attend the luncheon because of a broken arm. EMBLEM CLUB PLANS | I VALENTINE DANCE t Members of the' Decatur Emblem club made plans to hold a Valentine dance at their regular meet-: Ing Thursday evening in the Elk* home. Lois' Meyer presided over the business session. The dance is to be held Saturday February 16, in the iballroom at the Elks home. Admission will be 11 per couple and free punch will be served. A donation to Care was also made during the meeting. The club will meet February! 28 in the Elks home for a social meeting. MISB BERTHA «Ay WED TO LYNN W. POORMAN In a simple, impressive ceremony performed in the Monroe Methodist church Thursday evening Miss Bertha Ray. daughter of Mrs. Edna Ray of Monroe, became the bride of Lynn Warren Poorman, sou of Mr. and Mrs. b.' Roy Poorman of Geneva route one. The Rev. W. L. Hall performed, the double ring ceremony at eight o’clock in the presence of the immediate families and close friends. During the reading of the vows Mrs. Homer Winteregg played “Savior. Like A Shepherd Lead Us,” and “O Promise Me.” The bride was given In marriage •by Homer Winteregg, a close friend of the family. She selected a gold wool suit with which she wore a matching hat and black accessories and a stibulder corsage of orchids. Miss Mary Alice Steury attended the bride in a dark green suit with cocoa brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses and baby mums. •Max Poormap served his brother as best man. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the home of the bride’s mother. A three-tier-ed wedding cake topped with a miniature <bride and groom centered the bridal table. J ROADSIDE COUNCIL in January Meeting The January meeting of the Adams County Roadside Council was held Thursday afternoon at the Decatur high school. Mrs. Wilbur Stanley, president, conducted the meeting. Mrs. Freeman Walters led in the opening prayer and Mm. Patti R. Rich, secretary, called the roll of members and affiliated organiza\March meeting in the evening. Mrs. Sophia Diefenbaugh, district supervisor, who was to have been present for the meeting was unable to attend because of Illness. Mrs. Stanley announced that she had written to E. Ross Adair, fourth district representative to congress, and the Interstate Comment Commission protesting the hauling of high explosives over already congested highways. Further plans for the new park were made and Mrs. William Noll ‘reported the donation of evergreen for the site. Mrs. Stanley reported that lumber had been donated for two additional roadside tables. The Indiana State Roadside Council meeting will be held at the Pdkagan state park on April 8. Smart!
