Defeat Adams Central In Final By 52 To 46 Score Saturday Nigh t

The Hartford Gorillas, losers of only one game all season long, copped the honors in the annual Adams county high school basketball tourney Saturday night, defeating°the battling Adams Central Greyhounds, 52-46. Hartford won its way to the finals by defeating the Pleasant Mills Spartans, 60-43, and Adams Central reached the final session by eliminating the defending champion Monmouth Eagles, 45-22. A pair of hot-snooting veterans. Jack Meyer and Dick Ziegler, led the Gorillas to their tourney title. Hartford took an early* 4-0 lead and maintained an 8-4 margin midway through the first quarter but widened the gap to 15-5 as the opening period closed. The Gorillas built their advantage to 13 points at one stage of the second stanaa but the Greyhounds, ■ paced by Doyle Arnold and Enos Schrock, cut the lead to 25-19 at the main intermission. Adams Central battled to within three'points at 30-27 at the halfway point in the third quarter and again within four points at 36-32 but; g paii- of quick field goals and a foulttoss by Gene Noll gave

The Spartans gave the fans g thrill in the first minute of the third period when a field goal by Bud Case atid a pair of free thrown by Jack Raudenbush knotted the score at 28-28. The Gorillas, however, met this challenge by Scoring the next 11 points to take & 39-2 S advantage with three to gb in the period.
