Archers Take Close Bailie By 52-48 South Side gave Fort Wayne, its . third victory ot the season over the Decatur Yellow Jackets Friday flight, as the Archers! edgbd the Jackets. 52-48, in a hkrd-fought battle at the Decatur gyrri. ? South led most of the ball game but the Jackets rallied in the final Quarter to pull into a tie and: then go out in front by one point, but the Archers came right back to put the game out of Decatur’s' reach. _■ ■ , 1 The Yellow’ Jackets drew first blood when Jim Moses hit his first ■of seven field goals and then added a free throw for a momentary 3-0 lead. A foul shot by John Sweet and Dick Bragg’s fielder knotted the count at 3-3 after two m’nutes of play. The Archers .then moved to an 8-4 margin but Ferris J Kohne came through with a -three-point play to bring - the Jackets' within a single point, but South carried on to hold a 16-11 A advantage at the end of the first period. The Archers twice built r||heir lead to seven points in the second period, but Moses, barely beating the half-time gun. cut loose from more than three-fourths the length of the floor for one of the longest, shots ever made On the Decatur floor ft) trim the margin to 29-24 at the half. The Jackets whittled away at the AVchers and a field goal by Jerry Kolter tied up the ball ganje at 32-32 midway through the third quarter. Sweet's charity loss put South back on top but later Sweet committed his personal and was also assessed a technical for protesipng too violently, Moses and Motrison each converting a free throw to give Decatur a 46-45 margin. Keith Saylor, however, broke the Jackets’ Lacks with a pair of v quick fielders and the Archers were out in front -to stay., ' Jim Moses tallied 19 points to lead both teams in scoring. Saylor led, South with 17. while Kohjie counted 15 for the Who played without the services of Kent Koons, out because of a fractured cartilage on a finger of his right hand.
