ADAMS COUNTY CHORUS HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY 3 1 Decatur members of' the Adains ■ County Chorus entertained the group Monday evening at the annual Christmas z party. Dinner was served in the social rooms of the First Presbyterian church. Seasonal decorations appointed the social rooms and the tables were\ decorated with miniature Christmas trees and evergreen. Place cards were small choir; boys holding books, and a larger group formed a centerpiece. z Following the Mrs. Martin Neuenschwander# director of the choir, had charge of the carol singing and Mrs. Carl Kuhn played the piano accompaniment. Group singing of “Silent Night” opened thjo ” meeting and Mrs. Amos Ketchum read scripture from the Second chapter Os St. Luke. Mrs. Martha Rawley read a .poem entitled “My Responsibility” and Mrs. Adolph Kolter gave an article entitled “How to Pray for Missionaries.” Mrs. 1 Harruff read a paper on "Helping Foreign students in our country” and the closing prayer was offered by, Mrs. Adler. » ,i ? The tables were decorated with pine boughs > and red and green candles. Eaßh place was marked with a candy cane. : Twenty-four adults and ■dive children attended the party. A short , business session was held followed , by a showing of colored pictures. Monrqe, 42. an unemployed laborer, admitted robbing the nearby Bank of $576 because het “wanted Christmas for his nine children," authorities said. Sheriff Hubert Wagner said Monroe told him he drank a few beers in Sullivan and suddenly decided to rob the bank. Then he bought a realistic toy revolver, staged the daring; daylight robbery, Wagner quoted him. Wagner said Monroe, abandoned rhe car four miles south of Fairbanks and ran tp his home at Merom. Authorities found the car snd arrested two of Monroe’s sorts when they came for it. They released the youths and Vent to the Monroe home where they recovered $534 of the Amount reported missing. Monroe' at first denied the robbery but Admitted it early today under questioning, the sheriff said. Monroe told authorities he had been laid off two Greeks ago ,at the Crane, Ipd., naval ammunition depot where he worked for a Construction firm. Bank robbery charges! will be filed today, Wggndr said. Police said Mpiiroe tied a bandanna handkerchief around his face yesterday and approached the bank. An hour and one-half entertainment was given by actors and dancers from the Dorothy Durbin studios in 7 Fort Wayne. Features ck the bill included a ventriloquist,' dancing reindeer and ripper-man.. The acts were tops and the crowd, composed largely of children, enjoyed it immensely, h The climax of the show was th* appearance of Santa Claus; who was presented to the audience by Joseph- Brennen.
