Warfarin Rat Bait First Used In 1950 Warfarin rat bait was first used in Adams county by Louis Haugh in 1950, states county agent L. E. Archbold. The county agent had received a trial % pound package of concentrated warfarin. He asked Haugh for the privilege of trying the material at the Williams Elevator. The concentrate was mixed ( with poultry concentrate feed and placed in baiting stations about the elevator. Within three weeks the Williams elevator was relatively free of rats and mice. Haugh then set up baiting stations in his laying house. He was very enthusiastic in his praise of the efficency of warfarin rat and mouse bait. Leo Kirsch, postmaster at Decatur, bought a supply of fully pre- ; pared warfarin rat bait during the ( campaign last November. .Leo says the material was ‘tops’ in eliminating rats and mice. Ivan Huser, a Hartford township ; farmer, also got In on the baiting campaign in 1950. He says his farm buildings were kept rat and mouse all the winter season. Robertson said that the trainmen were willing to arbitrate the i. “entire controversy . . . but the railroads refused and the government apparently is unable to persuade them to accept this reasonable means of adjusting the dispute.” ! \ The carriers, ill turn, have offered to arbitrate the working rules but hot the wage increase. Two other railroad brotherhoods —the conductors and engineers — are also involved' in a wage' dispute with the carriers but have not threatened strike actiori at this! time. The fourth operating brotherhood, the trainmen, settled with the carriers early this year after staging a wildcat walkout for which they ivere fined 8101,C00.. The Organization for European Economic Co-operation has granted Western Germany $2,600,000 |o pay for imports of nickel and animal oils from Norway.
