Leo Durocher Is National’s Manager 01 Year New York; Oct. 26.—(UPS — Durocher -by an unanimous vote —was the United Press National league manager of the year today, winning the award after disproving his own theory that “nice Jguys -firtish >laht." Durocher, baseball’s reformed bad man. was named on every ballot by a board of 24 veteran baseball writers, three from each league city. The natty little skipper of the New York Giants, who led them to the most miraculous in-the-stretch pennant tripmph of modern times, was acclaimed for the dtfring lineup switches that transformed the team into a. fighting winner. Wildcats And Badgers Play Feature Tilt Chicago, Oct. 26. —(UP)—Northwestern’s undefeated Wildcats were a touchdown underdog to Wisconsin today for the Big Ten’s major match tomorrow. The Wildcats, undefeated through games with Colorado, Army, Minneso;a and Navy, were at top strength for the battle with coach Bob Voigts stressing improved passing as the kry to a triumph over she Badgers. \ Wisconsin with a one won, one lost apd one tied record in three conft rence contests, was expected to miss sophomore halfback Har land Carl and offensive guard Bill Gamble, two supposed standouts in the lineup. Conservation Club Plans Interesting Meeting Saturday The Adams county conservation club is planning a banner meeting for Saturday night at 7:30 o'clock at the Boy Scout cabin in HunnaNuttinan park. Following a short business meeting, highly interesting movies from the state conservation department will be shown by Rudy Meyer, of Adams county, an employe of tne department. \ AH members and prospective members are urged to be present.
