J.E. THACKER SPEAKS AT BOBQ COMMUNITY MEETING Sixty members of the Bobb" Community Organisation were present for the October meeting of the group Monday . evening at the Bobo school. J. E. Thacker was the guest speaker and told of his experiences as an agricultural to Africa.. , 1 i The meeting was presided over by Roman Sprunger. Mrs. Gladys Darr played the piano for the group singing and prayer was offered by the Rev. Ensminger: Program chairmen were Mrs. Paul R. Rich -and Mrs. -Roland Miller. The society decided to send gifts for Christmas time to mdn of the church who are in the armed services. The meeting was dismissed with the Lord's Prayer. Hostesses who served refreshments were Mrs. EdgaV Reinking, Mrs. Louis Mailand, Mrs. Otto Speigel and Mrs. William Zwick. The tables were decorated in fall theme. MARTHA CikULE MEETS THURSDAY AFTERNOON Mrs. Huber DeVoss was hostess for the October meeting Of' the Martha Circle of the Presbyterian shurch on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. E.- S. Christen led the devotions, reading verses from the 14th chapter bf Matthew and the ninth chapter of Ecclesiastes followed with prayer. At’ the business session, x announcement was made of a rummage sale to be held this pionth, the date to be given later, and Mrs. L. C. Pettibone explained about the new organization in the church which will study the book “God and the Nations” on Sunday evenings. \ Mrs. DeVoss was assisted 'in serving refreshments by Mrs. James Kocher, Sr., Mrs. Harry Stults and Mrs. Earl Adams.
LOCAL WOMEN ATTEND STATE ROADSIDE CQUNCIL The Indiana State Roadside Council, Inc., held their fall meeting at Clifty Falls Inn. Clifty ( Falls state park, Madison, on Tuesday. Those attending from the county were Mrs. Irvin Stucky, district delegate, Mrs. Wilbur Stanley county president and also district delegate. Mrs. Bert Haley, delegate from the Adams county chorus, and Mrs. Paul R. Rich, recording secretary of the ■ local ! council. \The day's program included reports from various district supervisors musical selections from the Jefferson county Home Economics chorus, and a discussion of weed control measures by Charlies Wilson, state landscape supervisor and his assistants.
