BETHANY CHURCH TO HOST MISSIONARY INSTITUTE \ The ..Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church will be hosts to churches In this area during a Women’s Society of World Se.rvice institute to be held on Tuesday. This is the first gathering of this kind since the reorganization of the in this state. 1 Women from the former St. Joseph conference of the United Brethren, ohurch and from 'lndiana conference of the ' Evangelical: church will meet in a united session. Approximately two hundred women are expected to attend ike-affair. The morning session will begin at ten o’clock with Mrs. • William Qingher, institute leader, presiding. She wil lalso present the devotions. Guest speaker, will lie Mrs. J, J. Arnold, missionary to Nigeria, Africa. Mrs. M. E; Reed, branch president, will. jfiscuss W.S.W.S. methods. At noon a sacrificial luncheon will be provided by the host church, and fallowing this a question period will be-conducted’for ’society presidents by Mrs. Reed. The session will recon vane at one fifteen o’clock, and after opening devotions a general questton period will be directed by Mrs. Reed. Methods of children and young people’s work will be discussed by Mrs. E- D. Mast, branch vice-president, and’ Mrs. F. JI. Willard, of this city, missionary education secretary for children, p p WOMEN OF MOOSE IN SOCIAL MEETING The regular social meeting of the Women of the Moose was held last evening in the Moose home. Announcement was made of the annual Christmas in October for. Mooseheart, to be held at the next meeting. Members are reminded to bring their gifts at this time.’ ■ Prizes for games and contests held during the social hour were won by Allie Noll, Ethel Toman, Helen Liechty and Irene Gephaft. Mrs. albert beineke TO HEAD ASSOCIATION Mrs. Albert Beiheie was elecWd president of the Adams county home; economics association in the annual election this Week. Mrs. Beineke has served as’head of the organ ixation since the death of Mrs. E. W. which occurred shortly afer the fall election of 1950. Mrs. Glenn Schaadt of Blue Creek township was elected vice-president, Mrs. Edwin C. Bauman of Monroe township, secretary, and Mrs.: R. C. Hersh, of Decatur, treasurer. The, meeting was held in the auditorium of the Leisure Electric home at Fort Wayne. The council decided to continue the present program of exchange -social entertaining for 1952. The decision to sponsor a sightseeing trip in 1952 was made and a travel committee wiU be appointed. The council enjoyed a tour and luncheon during the day. MISSIONARY GROUP IN MEETING LAST NIGHT The Woman‘s Missionary Association of the. Nuitman Avenue United Brethren church held its meeting last night at the home of Mrs. Ireta Thornton. Mrs. Gladys Raver, lesson leader, used the globe along with the words; V’Pray, Give, and Go” as the worship center. The lesson presented wars on the Kentucky mission', using the words of William Carey, "Attempt Great Things for God, Expect Great Things of God,” as; the challenge. Scripture from Matthew was read by Mrs. Gray and prayers were offered by several members. Readings were given by Mrs. Thornton and :Zehr. Different phases of the mission project were discussed. Mrs. Zehr spoke on ”W ork e r s," : ; Mrs. Terrell, “Building,” Mrs. Diehl, “Plan of Work,” and Mrs. Michel, "Church Extension.” iJ: J Plans for the annual thankoffering service were made at the business session and the meeting was dismissed by Mrs. Ter-, relL. . : i. HOLDS MEETING ON THURSDAY The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Monroe Methodist church held a “visitation link” party in the church annex Thursday evening with the officers; acting as hostesses. , | Approximately one hundred members and guests were seated at small tables decorated with abtuian colors. Lunch, carrying out the same color theme, was served at the beginning of the evening. The program which followed Stressed, the work of the society ahd closed with! an impressive ceremony in which all linked hands and sang “Blest Be The Tie That Binds.” . WOMEN OF MOOSE AT HARTFORD CITY SUNDAY Decatur chapter of the Women of the Moope attended the annual star recorders day program at Hartford City last Sunday. The meeting opened at one' thirty o’clock that afternoon by the Hartford City chapter, who also gave the w-elcome. The response was given by the Portland chapter. 1 Introduction of tlje star recorders present' took place and the balloting was presented by the Bluffton chapter. Decatur chapter put on the initiatory work for a class of candidates and Dunkirk .conducted the closihg ceremonies. A social period and refreshments were enjoyed later in, the afternoon. V.; MRS. JOHNSON HOSTESS TO EVERREADY CLASS The Everready j class of the First Methodist \ church met last evening at the home of Mrs. E, W. Johnson. Mrs. W. O. Little, a former class member, was a guest atthe meeting. Mrs. Jess Niblick spoke on previous Sunday school lessons, with the theme “How Can I be a Better Christian*” Mrs. A. D. Suttles, Sr. t gave the program and told of her vacation at Lake Chautauqua, N. Y. During the business period R was decided not to hold a meeting in November due to church services.
