Say Siamese Twins Can't Be Separated State Surgery For Boys Is Rock Island, iff., Sepjt. 25. —(UP) --The mother of Siamese twin boys, joined at the tbp of their peads and “surgically impossible” to separate, says she will dedicate the rest of her life to “love and care for them.” Mrs. Roy Brodie/ ,29, of East Xfoline, fll., yesterday learned the opinion of doctors w,ho X-rayed the twins and made other tests to determine if the youngsters can be separated. \ Dr. S. P. Durr told her it would be “surgically impossible to operate” to separate the boys. They were born Sept. 16, \ “The tests proved that the infahjts have the same circulatory system and a common general nervous \system,” Durr said. “If an oplratikm were performed, tv is doubtful that either would survive.” Mr*. Brddie was gtief-stricken at tha news. But she detided against placing them in an institution. ‘[l’m going to keep t|hem with me always,” she said. “I’m going to love add care for them as well as I can as long as I live.

Officer Convicted By Coroner's Jury Returns Verdict Os Manslaughter v Chicago, Sept 25—(UP)—A coroner’s Jury today returned a -verdict of manslaughter in the deaths cf tiyo youths killed by policeman Michael Moretti had recommended that Moretti be held for the grand jury. Th® Jury deliberated 10 hours before handing down its verdict. It was the longest period for such consideration in the history' of Cook: county. \ Mdretti, attached to the office of state’s attorney John Boyle, was immediately taken to the Chicago detective bureau and placed in a cell. He Wept as he was led from city hall. x ■ d The verdict concerned the deaths:-, of Edward Salvi, 21, And Arturo Gamino, 15, Allied by Moretti as they sat in their car with a third* youth, Leonard Monaco, 21. Monaco was wounded in the shooting. The case has brought charges of “official whitewash” from Chicago Newspapers after a grand jury previously failed by one vote to indfct Moretti. j , One of the co-special prosecutors in the case, Harold A. Smith, said he would go before chief justice Thomas Kluczynskl in criminal court with a petition asking that Moretti be held to the October grand jury. Moretti’s only remark was to a policeman who locked him in a cell. : k ~ ’ -j “Good night, man," he said glumly.; Moretti claimed that he killed the two youths in self-defense while hb wsa making a narcotics investigation. However, Monaco testified that his companions and hiihself were shot without proyocation. i The Chicago crime commission charged Boyle with trying to f‘covcr up Moretti after the gjrand jury tailed to indict his special officer. Man Arrested On Contempt Warrant Deputy sheriff Jim Cochran Monday arrested Louis Stetler, the defendant in a divorce action instigated by Marjorie Stetler, who was cited by the Adams circuit court on a contempt warrant for failing to comply with an order of the court to provide support money. Schedule Filed Schedule to determine the inheritance tax for the Harry Sprunger estate was referred to. the county assessor, noting that the total estate is $44,616.68 and that $34,616.88 of it is the net taxable value. There are five heirs. Wills Probated The last will and testament of C. W. R. Schwartz was probated in circuit court, and by the provisions of the will the widow, Arveda, was granted a life estate of the personal and real estate. After her demise, according to the will, the children are to share the real estate equally. Harold Schwartz was named executor of the will and his application noted a personal estate of $8,500 and real estate valued at $20,000; there are 13 heirs. According to the will of James Andrews, all real estate and' personal property is bequeathed to daughter Ava Andrews ( and another daughter, Ina Ish, is appointed executrix of the will as well as guardian bf Ava.
