jZION GIRLS GUILD <7 IN RECENT MEETING The Girls Guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church > met in the church social rooms last Wednesday.. Mrs. Betty McNerney gave the\ lesson, “Should Young People Make Moral Decisions’” ' Mrs. Mary Leonardson donated two new books to the guild li“Let’s Talk about You" and "Traded Twins.” New officers Elected are Marilyn 1 Jaberg, president; Sharlene Leh-.l man, vice-president; Mary Leh-! man, secretary; Nola Lehman, •( treasurer. The meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month- at seven thirty O’clock. The minutes were read afad approved. I Refreshments were served to the thirteen members persent by Nancy Kirsch, and Nola and Mary Lehman. ' _ _ The meeting dosed with Mizpah benediction. Norma Appelman To Be Bride Os Samuel J. Yost ■ ’ j l ' '. '. ' J . ! . At six o’clock this evening Miss Norma Jean Appelman and Pvt. Samuel J. Yost will be united In marriage in a double-ring ceremony, to be read by the Very Rev. Msgr. JJ. Seimetz in the rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic church. i \ The bride-elect is the daughter of Andrew Appelman of 123 South Tenth street, and the prospective bridegroom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Attos Yost of this\city. For her wedding Miss Appelman will wear a gown of imported Chantilly lace and nylon net. It is fashioned with a sheer yoke scolloped with the. ilace, which forms the cap sleeves and continues through the fitted bodice and brief scalloped skit, worp over a bouffant net ballerina length skirt. Formal length lace mits will highlight her short sleeves. \ Her shoulder length veil of Imported French illusion will be held with a lace half-hat with scallops around the brim. A purple-throated white orchid will top her white | prayerbook* and her only jewelry , of the Adams county chorus. ’Ad- 1 [ companied by Miss Mary Michaels, 1 accordionist, the chorus and group sang new wv>rds, supplied by Mrs. Freeman Walters, to*the tune of i “Mocking Bird Hill” that expressed appreciation for the park, and to the Wintereggs. - ’ | Miss Gretchen Schnepp gate a reading, "When Daddy Hung the Wash," and Miss Michaels played an accordion solo. Mrs. ( Dan Striker adapted James Whitcomb Riley’s poem, "Lockurbie Street,” to say thanks for the park. The Rev. W. ’L. HalL Methodist minister o»f Monroe; gave a fitting address and dedicated the park to the general public. I Due to inclement weather, the group went to firemen’s hall where a delicious carry-in supper was enjoyetj. After supper Mrs. ! Stanley introduced Mrs. Brewster, president of the newest affiliated organization, Betterl Homes Home Economics club ] who was hostess for the dedica tion. The maid of honor will wear a ballerina length gown of aplumn gold, combining nylon tulle \and satin. A small collar of the satin fashions the molded bodice and tucks of tu!l4 form the extended cap sleeves. The full accordion pleated skirt of the. tulle is caught at, th£ waist by'a tailored belt of satin.] She will wear a matching headpiece and carry an arm bouquet of autumn flowers. The couple will greet their guests at a reception to be held from seven until \nine o’clock this evening at the Knights of Columbus hall. She stressed how “nice it- was to have a place away from the rush of traffic, such as the new park, for children to play.” Following the council’s purpose sheet, she com l mented op “how well the corners were cleaned and cut bqck on highway 124, but that there are many ; others that are not cut whkih are making dangerous road hazards.’' l She brought an invitation; to the Adams Cpuntyi group from the Huntington group for guest night. There will ibe a teniperance lecture at the pleasant Grove U.B. church, sponsored «by the 1 Women’s Missionary Association, Sunday evening at thirty o’clock. Ford Koeppel will be the speaker. The Rosary Society of St. Mary’s church' met last night at the K. of C. hall. After a short busines meeting, cards, were played. Miss Joan Wemhoff won the prize for canasta, Mrs. Dick Ehlnger for bridge, Xfrs. Dora Cook for 500, Mrs. Andrew Miller for pinochle. Mrs. Bob\ Hess for rhum, and Mrs. Joe Murphy won the attendance prize. Refreshments were served following the games. Miss Marlene Helen Laurent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Laurent of 703. Fifth street, is listed among the students at St. Francis College of Fort Wayne. Miss Laurent is a sophomore. Mrs. Robert Beery and baby of Decatur route have been dismissed from the Wells county hospital. Robert Potteiger, who was to have faced trial in the Jay circuit court this week, was declared insane by an inquiry- before the court and Monday was taken to the Dr. Norman Beatty’ hospital at Michigan City. Three Muncie persons, Charles Ai and Naoma Reese, and Lldyd Roberts received cuts and bruises
when their ear over turned near Middlebury on highway 224\ Sunday evening. ' ■ Elaine Pulser, 7, of 1 Osaiart, was struck by a truck driven by Donald E. Lamley, of Fort Wayne, as she was crossing the street 5 on her way home from school Monday. She was taken to Lutheran hospital, Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Shroyer of Hilltop Home returned yesterday from their annual two week fishing trip in Northern Michigan. During these two weeks they stayed at the Fletcher Dam fishing camp on Thunder River.
