The missile was fired a/t 11 a.m. (CST) after delays caused by losses in the oxygen supply which was replenished before takeoff. The rocket burned alcohol and liquid
oxygen in its flight. \ Milton Rosen, scientific officer in charge, said R. Ralph J. Havens, in charge pf upper atmospheric measuring instruments, ' vetoed a suggestion that the rocket be fired with the smaller oxygen supply. Rosen credited the decision with adding the record breaking miles to the altitude. Brimstone deposits’ of Ixiuislana and Texas account for 90 per cent of U.
