Briefly, the April report was for workers who w«re employed the last three months of 1950; the July l eport is for employes who have worked at i least 60 days in the last three months and have received at least |SO. Less than that amount Is not taxable. The employer is rsspops|ble for collecting the tax an.l fling the tax return. The tax rate totals three percent, onehalf deducted from the employe’s salarz, the other half paid by the einrioyet. } •; More Hot And Humid Weather Predicted Indianapolis, July 27—(UP)— Ffoos|ers faced the pfospect of at least five more days of hot, humid summer weather with only tern-' poraCy cooling and showers, the weather bureau said today in an outlook. • The outlook predicted temperatures during the period will average two to four degrees normal highs ,of 89 to 92 degrees and normal lows of 64 to 67. Panhandle Asks For Gas Rate Increase Washington, July 27. —(UP)—. Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co., Kansas City, has filed a proposed rate schedule with the federal powqi commission which would Increase wholesale natural gas charges to some 52 utility custoihera by about 124,000,000. The firms which would be affected are In Kansas,, Indiana, Missouri, Qtho, Illinois and Michigan.Panhapdle said it needed the rate increase because Its operating costs are going Up,the cost of gas It purchases Is rising and its capital expenditures for increasing the system’s capacity have been climbing. Panhandle plans to make the \rate increase effective Sept. 20. ' , '/ \ ’ \ Willow Run Corner Is Sold At Auction Willow Run corner, just south of Decatur on U.S. highway 27, was purchased at auction Thursday evening by R.L. and RE. Hendricks for a reported price of $17,200. More than 300 interested persons attended tfte sale, which was conducted by Roy 8. Johnson and Soil and Melvin The former owners of the property, Ralph A. Foster and Roy E. Foster, plan to return to Ohio and engage in farming. The property consists bf a grocery store, garage, filling station-, restaurant and cabins.
