Sanitary Survey Is Planned In County Health Council In Meeting Last Night Mrs. Leonard Schwaller and Mrs. Ivan Huser, Thorne economics club representatives; Raymond VonEmon and Mrs. Thelma Bilderback, representing Farm Bureau; Miss Esther Sowards and Don Wartman. Rural Youth} Dr. John Carroll, president of the Adams county medical association, met with a panel of the Adams county health council in the county extension office Tuesday Members of the health council panel were Dr. Harold Zwick, county health officer; Miss Jean Shockley, county health nurse; Miss Anna K. Williams, home demonstration agent: and county agen L. E. Archbold. George Nasser of the state board pf health and Harold Smith of Purdue University were also in attendance. > I '\ - The health council wants to know the status of sanitary conditions in the county, outside the two incorporated cities; tiiey want to know] the status of immunization and vaccination and also what the rural people believe are some of their health and safety problems. The questions asked of the group was, “What is a good way to get the answers to the above questions?” The one best way, the group agreed, was making a -house to house purvey. A-survey means either a lot of work for a sihall group or a lot of people doing the actual interviewing. {The group representatives take the problem! back to their organized groups and ask them if ttyey would he willing to help in making thb survey. Thfy will lheet again in the extension office on the evening of Jqly 10 to report the answer from thfelr organlbations. That some glaring sanitation probleni exist ip the county was borne out by the fact that two people voluntarily appeared before the Health panel last night asking for help. One problem had to do with improperly optlettlng septic tanks in a Congested rural area. The o»,ier pkrty had a problem of the neighbors’ livestock seeking shade under a tree within a few feet of their well and dwelling. Only Slight Damage \ ! Done By Fire Tuesday Only negligible damage vias done .Tuesday when a short ]circuit in a wire in the warehouse of i the Adams Distributing company, according to city firemen Who answered the call'. The insulation of the wire Was burned off, they reported, for the only damage. Need Seat Covers? Get them at Western Auto for $6 and $8 less for coach and sedan. • It
