MISS IRENE HEIMANN TO WED VICTOR U HAMRICK Mr. and Mrs. John E. Heimann, of route four, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their {laughter, Irene, to Victor L Hamrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hamrick of Rockford, O. Miss* Heimaan graduated from Decatur Catholic high school and her fiance is a graduate of Rockford high school. He is employe-1 at the International Harvester Company at Fort Wayne. BROWNIE COURT OF AWARDS HELD AT LINCOLN SCHOOL One hundred fifty members of the Brownie troops, their parents and lenders, met. in the Lincoln school gym recently for the BroWnie court of awards. A potluck supiper was enjoyed preceding the couift with each troop seated at their own decorated table. Mrs. Kenneth consultant for Brownies and Girl Scouts, welcomed the guests. Members of Troop J7 i entertained with an Indian dance to open the program. Members of Troops 16 and 17, who will enter Intermediate scouting neat year, participated in the “fly-ijip” ceremony, assisted by Mrs. Small. Mary,,Susan Custer, representative from the Girl Scouts, welcomed the girls into scouting. Awards were given to members of Troop 2 and 4 for the year’s iwork. WOMEN OF MOOSE HAVE INITIATION THURSDAY Formal initiation for a class of candidates was held last, evening at the Moose home for new members of the Women of the Moose. Twelve members of the Van Wert chapter of Women of Moose were’ guests. Mary Dixon hospital guild chairman, was In charge of the chapter night program. Sarah Jones, of Van Wert, a Mooseheart mother, g4ve a talk on Moosehearl and Margaret Rise, alsd of Van Wert, gave a reading. \ During -thO business meeting the chapter voted to give a |lO contribution to Hoosiertown, a school; for boys. The door prize was won’ by Juanita Walchle and during the social hour refreshments were served by the hospital guild committee. BPW CLUB ENTERTAINS SENIOR GIRLS WEDNESDAY Senior girls from the Decatur high school and the Decatur Catholic high school , were entertained Wednesday evening by the;Decatur Business and Professional Women’s Club at the Moose home. The room was decorated with vases of tulips and lilacs. Long fairies were placed at each end of the room; A small Maypole surrounded by story book dolls centered tne main table. At each end o( this 5 table were vases of .tulips around which were placed miniature diplomas tied with the school colors. The second table, decorated with 'bowls of tulips, held the large punch bowl and cups. As the guests entered the room they were presented-with corsages. Punch was served at the start of the program. a • Miss Anna K. Williams, president of the local club, welcomed the guests. Each guest was introduced and a brief statement was given' about what she intended doing upon graduation from high school. Mrs Max Schafer introduced “The Dreamtimers,” a singing group from Ossian high school. , They were accompanied at, the piano by Miss Dorothy West. Miss Pat Johnson presented Mrs. Raymond Harrison, a chalk artist from Beriie, who drew three pictures for the group. Light' refreshments were served at the close of the program. The committee for the evening was Miss Pat Johnson, Miss Ruth Flora, Mrs. Charles Lose. Mrs- .Eleanor BETHANY WSWS UNIT MEETS ON THURSDAY Unit 3 of the Woman’s Society of World Service of Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church met at the home of Mrs. Adolph Kolter Thursday afternoon- Mrs. Mollie McConnehey was assisting hostess. , Mrs. Amos Ketchum presided at Jhe business meeting. The program, in charge of Mrs. Henry Adler, opened with group singing of “Faith of Our Mothers," and scripture was taken from Luke. v A \:Mrs. Everett Hutker/'spoke ou the topic, “Peace Begins in the Family,” and Mrs. George Hamma used the subject “God's Landlady ’* A talk on “Mother’s Responsibilities” was given by Mrs, Wended Seaman and Mrs. John Spahr gave a reading. “A Little Boy and His Mother.” The program closed with singing "Love at Home” and prayer by Mrs. Adler. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 18 HAB COURT OF AWARDS Girl Scout Troop 18 held a combined court of awards and Mother’s Day party Tuesday evening in the Method|st church basement. The girls had planned the party as part of their hostess badge project. Miss Carolyn kumann, president, opened the meeting. Mrs. Chester Dalzell, who served as leader of the troop until last December, gave an interesting talk on how and when the girls earned their badges. Mrs. Kenneth Small, Girl Scout outdoor consultant, made the awards for camp craft, foot traveler, outdoor pioneer and cyclist to the various girls. She also showed tjhe guests pictures of the first Girl Scout leaders and pictures of scouts in 1932Games were played and prizes of potted plants were awarded to Mrs. D. H. Callow and Jbyce Cal--low. Refreshments were served by the committee in charge. The meeting closed by singing “The Calliope Song” and forming the wishing circle. Leaders of the troop are Mrs. Roger Schuster and Mrs Fred Striker. Miss Barber, director of a Gary Neighborhood House, will speak on her ' work at the meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Association Wednesday evening at eight o’clock at the church.
