WOMAN'S SOCIETY TO INSTALL OFFICERS Mrs- W. P. Robinson, president X of Woman’s Society Christian Service of the First Methodist church, announced today that installation of the society officers will take , place Sunday during the morning services at the church. On June 1 the officers training school will be held at the Forest Park church in Fort WayneJ The society will sponsor a rummage sale on June 1. Miss Margaret Biting, president, and Mrs. Amanda Dierkes, chaplain, participated in the service;? from the local unit. Gross, C.PP.S., I . assistant professor of English at ] St. Joseph’s College, will assume the presidency of the college July 1, when the Very Rev. Alfred J. Zanolar, C.PP.S., who has held the position since September,) 1948, will retire from office. v I I Father Gross, a native of Mercer | county, Ohio, entered the Society of the Precious Blood in 1926 and 4 was ordained to the priesjthood at St. Charles Seminary, Carthagena, Ohio, in 1938. The president-elect received the master of arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1941. After teaching at St. Joseph’s for six years he went to the University of Montreal, Canada, for two *nnd a half years of graduate study toward his doeforate in English. One Mon Killed, Two Critically Injured Madisonville, Ky., May 14 — (UP) —Two men were in critical condition here today as the result of injuries suffered yesterday in j a twxbcar crash in which another man was killed. Freeman Whitney, 45, of Chicago, was killed outright. Glendon Strader, also of Chicago, and Foster Cannon, of Nashville, Tenn.. are on the critical list at a Madisonville hospital. The crash occurred on U.S. 4i rear Nortonville. Police said the autos collided when a car which was being towed by Cannon slipped over the traffic line. Five 'Teen-Agers Killed In Accident Zakl, N. D-, May 14 —(UP)— Five 'teen-agers were killed and eight persons were injured jn n three-car collision east of here last night The five persons killed were riding in two cars with seven other companions of high school age. One of the cars had just passed and auto driven by Adolph Nelson of Williston. N. D.. going east ovefr a rise on U* S. highway 58. 1% miles east of Zahl. when it collided with the second car of students. Nelson’s dai 1 hit one or both of the other vehicles. GIRL SCOUTS Girl Scout Troop 12 held their meeting Thursday afternoon at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church and also a Mother’s Day party. After the meeting was open ed and dues collected the committees in charge prepared for the party. Dances that the girls have learned were taught to the mothers and the girls did the Virginia Reel. The entertainment committee gave a play and refreshments were served. The Friendship Circle was formed and the meeting dismissed. : Scribe, Betsy Embler.
