SOCIETY ■ZIQN WOMEN’S GUILD HAS MOTHER DAUGHTER DINNER Seventy-five members and guests [of the Women’s Guild oi the IJionj Evangelical and Reformed church i were entertained at a lovely hiother and daughter dinner last evening in the social rooms df the church. ; I, \ - • "Guestjß were seated at U-shaped tables ; beautifully decorated in pastel icolors. Pale lavender and yellow streamers were used down the cenjter of the tables and phstel streamers were entwined in they overhead latticework. Silhouettes cf .old] fashioned ladies holding were placed on the tables ar.d pastel candles and small bouquetjs of spring flowers completed ithe appointments. Miniature parasols made by members of the i Girl’s Guild marked the place ojf e®ch guest. Mrs. Ralph Yager offered the dinner prayer The program honoring the mothers was presented by the guild girls, the direction of Mrs. J. W. McNer ( ney and Mrs. Robert Hougk. Miss Nancy Kirsch, president of the guild, gave the welcome and a clever reading was given by Miss Sharlene Lehman. A poem honoring the deceased mothers was given by Mart; ilyn Jabterg, and a group of the girls sang ’‘Just a Song at Twilight.” y.-n A clever pantomime depicting the life of a grandmother was given by the following girls. Wil la Mae Hoelz, Donna and Marilyn Kirchenbauer, Harriet Gerber and Jean Kirchhofer. During the skit ■appropriate songs were sung bj other members of the guild, ac coinpanied by Mrs. Hougk. In closing the girls sang ‘‘Mother.’’ Members of the guild who participated. other than those mentioned, were the Misses Joyce Franklin, . Dick Burdge, has been ill with intestinal flu the past month, was able to walk down tow-n yesterday. Their son, Max Burdge and family of California, visited then, lecently. Approve New /Haven Land Annexation Fort Wayfie, Ind., May 10.—(UP) —The city df New Haven eyed the prospect of being $17,000,0CX) rtcher following the Allen county comtnissibners’ approval of an annexation petition. The commissioners approved by a two-to-one vote yesterday a petition authorizing New Haven to annex an industrial plot which would increase its area from 356 :o 1,990 acres and boost its tax base from $2,600,000 to $19,600,000. Objectors have 30 days to appeal the comnilssion’s action. / The industrial seclon, located about mid-way between New Haven and Fort Wayne, is about three miles long and bne mile wide.
