April 4. —*(UP) —A search party lt»kay rescued a lt)-year-old high school girl and arrested her kidnaper after the girl built a large campfire to attract searchers in t K e Sanbeds niountains of southeastern Oklahoma. The party led by Chester Palmer of Kinta. Okla., spotted-Jackie Parjjis and Robert Phillips, a&yeatndld ex-convict, huddled around the fire at 1 a.m. “I told him I was cold and wanted him to build a fire,” Jackie told officers here. ”1 had seen a spotter airplane, yesterday and some of the posse, and I knew they would see the fire.” t . “I just kept telling him T was cold and kept throwing' more wood on the fire,” she said. 1 ■ Palmer and his party of 10 men spotted the fire and carefully sui> rounded a small windbreak v before closing in on Phillipk did not resist. Pittsburg county: attorney S. F. Brown said he would file both kidnaping and rape" charges against Phillips, who recently completed a federal prison term for car theft. The boy was released unharmed after Phillips had forced him to drive more than 100 miles through the hills near here.
