That was back in the days when Hunter was driving a pickup track, returning from Fort Wsyne. That was also back In the days when trooper Biberstlne was patrolling the highway*, noting the mental lapses of some motorist*, and checking most of them. It was about a week ago. Biberstini- stopped Hunter'* truck. After a friendly greeting he asked to see th* latter's driver's license. It checked all right, so the trooper asked how the lights on the truck worked. "Fine," said Hunter. "Here. I'll show you." He tried the gadgets on the panel. No lights. All the while Biberstine -j>a» talking, he had no idea of Intnter's legal position Hunter mentioned that mo*t of the boys around the police courts, espectatly Kate trooper Walter Schindler, would make light of Hunter's predicament.
