Craig called for tha replacement of secretary of state Dean Acheson and adoption of a new foreign policy "to make America’s position unmistakably clear, to friend and too alike" He Mid a new American policy should Include application of "ruthIms economic sanctions" upon Rue Bls. adoption of a universal military training program, withdrawal of recognition of Russia, and extension of the Monroe doctrine to embrace ail free areas which desire protection. "America should go on the offensive In the unconventional warfare against communism everywhere." Craig said “We cannot afford to engage In any more satellite wars as preliminaries should there be a final showdown with Russia." He charged Americans have lost confidence In the state department and that U. 8. diplomacy “has been party to the betrayals and intrigues with communist infiltrators.” "State department officials — Dean Acheson and his pitjk cohorts —must be replaced If confidence Is to be restored,” Craig said. Campbell Assaib Attacks By Jenner Blast At Marshall Disgrace To State By United Press , U S. Sen. Homer E. Capehart dropped his re-election campaign today and flew back to Washington to vote against President Truman's expected veto of the communist control bill The major parts in last night's political action were played by Capehart's junior Republican colleague. Sen. William E Jenner, his Democratic opponent. Alex Campbell. Jenner delivered twin blasts at Democratic foreign policy during the last 1« years and Republican acceptance of it In bis speech at Fort Wayne. Campbell's speech at Indianapolis criticised Jenner for the Hoosier Republican's recent attack on Gen. George C. Marshall, which he said "has disgraced Indiana." "Jenner sought, and achieved, rock bottom" with his speech on Marshall. Campbell said. "He play ed the most villainous role ever enacted on the floor of the senate . . we could not Imagine his sinking to such depths that bis blast would keep aven his political stooge, the senior senator from Indians wondering which way to jump" Carflpbell’s principal reference to Capehart was to ask how he stood on Jenner's Marshall statement. ‘Tapehart's excuse was that he lacked documentary evidence of what Jenner had said." Campbell said "Well, the documentary evidence, In the form of a word-for-word text in the congressional record. has been available for days. Where is the comment from Capehart? Where is bis stand? Is he with Jenner or Is he with America?" The failure of Republicans to carry the- truth of the administrations bungling to the voters is play Ing Into the fair deal's bands, gate Jenner. "The (air aeaiera rumor and gossip mongers once more are peddling me-tooism' to. those who dare to call t.belr hand." Jenner said Japan's crowded poputaliOTL~tt» mountainous character and location on the rim of a sharp slope dropping miles deep into the sea make the country probably the world's worst earthquake risk, notes the National Geographic Society.
