Aug. 11. — This community, located In the heart at Indianan soybean belt, will be boat to the annual alate soybean day Tuesday. Sept. 12. More than 1.000 Hoosier farmer* are expected to attend. -=~- For H years. Remington has celebrated the talus of the crqp with a soybean seed show, educational program and banquet. Thia sear, in cooperation with Purdue University agroaomisu' ! and neighboring county agents a 10-Scre field on the Ward C. Lewis farm has been planted with varioas kinds of soybean tests. Included are varieties, fertiliser and cultured rate comparisons, methods and time of seeding tests, and a study ot minor slements. Chester Biddle of Remington, one of Indiana's directors in the American Soybean association, is in charge of plans tor the field day. Cooperating are the local service club, William Shively, vocational agriculture instructor and his students, the school musical organisation, and Purdue staff members headed by Prof. K. E. Crasser drove one of bis trucks here from West Virginia to attend the school. Now Sg years old. he is one of the most aetive and colorful Students,’leading the parades down Second street in his bare/eel. A former wjudd’s light-heavy-weight and 175-pound wrestling champion is also a student at Reppert’s school. Danny McShain, who will wrestle Gorgeous George September 4 in Dallas. Texas., has decided that he I wodld lik to be an auctioneer beIsides his other professions. Yes. professions, because McShain is not only a wrestler, but also a licensed lawyer in the state of California. A friend ot his. who made a fortue in auctioneering suggested that he train to be an auctioneer and go In partnership with him In the slack wrestling season. McShain is wrestling two or -three times a week tn nearby Ohio towns to keep his name before the f»ns while attending school. He appeared over a Dayton television program last Saturday. A wrestler tor 20 years. McShain says that he’s really' enjoying the auction school, and thinks it will help him a lot. Auctions are held every evening on Madison street between First and Second streets. The students conduct the sales themselves, and the instructors watch and point out their mistakes to them later.
