VCRA INNIGCR ANO VERNON ZURCHER WED - Mr. and Mr*. Rirfaa Inniger of route I, Berne, and Vernon Ear (her, son of Mr. and Mr*. William Zurcher, route 1, Monroe, were united In marriage Sunday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the Evangelical Mennonite church, went of Berne. The double ring vow*' were received by the Rev. N. J. Schmucker. Mr* June Habegger of thia cityplayed the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Mrs. Gyneth Luginbill of Indianapolis In ringing "Because," "I Promise You" and "The Lord's Prayer." _ The bride was gowned In traditional white satin. A sheer yoke of marquisette topped the beautifully styled gown with softly draped folds on the bodice. An overskirt of satin caught in soft folds, covered the full Cathedral train. Het finger-tip veil of sheer illusion was caught at both sides with dusters of orange blossom* forming a small halo. Roses made up her arm bouquet. The maid of honor. Miss Mlndle Ineiger. and the bridesmaid. Miss Anna hinlger. wore gown* Identl<ally styled In brilliant shades of simmering satin, one a vivid raspberry. and the other in ice-blue. They were fashioned with off-lhe qhoulder effect* given by tiny fold* coming from the back of the gown to form a small l*ertha. and side peplum* Both wore satin braided halos and mitt* to npy'tch their gowns They carried/white carnations / Paul Zurcher and Dale Zurcher allended their brother: and usher* sere Arthur Zurcher Joshua Zur7her. RALFH YAGER HOSTESS TO CLUB The Literature department of the Decatur Woman'* club met at the homo of Mrs. Ralph Yager Monday evening, with twenty mem tier* present. Mr*. -R. C. Herach opened the meeting with the collect, after which the program chairman. Miss Bertha Heller, used as her subject “Our Literature of New Rooks.” Mrs. Edward Cook spoke of the book* and poems of the last several decade*, and Mrs. Ralph Yager used as her topic "My American Heritage," a fireside book for young and old. and also read many familiar poem*. Mr*. John H. Cividen gave the prose liook of the last decade, taken from “The Green l’a*turea" She emphasised the thought "prayer enriches the life is away of life." Miss Heller closed the program with a talk on Virginia Kirku*' "Bookshop ot Service," a biogra|ihy ot the "Peabody Sister* of Salem." Miss Heller and Mr*. USO Will Suspend Operations Jan. 31 Lock Os Finances Brings Suspension New York. Jan 25 —(UPI— Th* united service organisation, whose camp shows and canteens enter i aided minions of servicemen und women during. World War 11. said today it has run out of money and will cease operations by Jan. 31 The USO executive committee antiounced ' with regret" that the organisation “has ne alternative" but to discontinue its service to peacetime military organisations. The USO "ip unable to coniinn* its current activities on the basis of funds in sight or likely to be raised during 195#," a statement said All operations will cease pot later than Jan. 31 The USO was founded on Feb 4. 1941 snd sent out hundreds of units of dancers, actors and singer* to entertain American troops at bases throughout the world, it operated canteens in large cities. Including the Stagedoor Canteen in New York City, and frequently sup plied free movie and theater tick ets to allied personnel.
