10 Questioned In Death Os Waitress Nine Persons Held In Separate Cells Franklin. Tenn.. Bee. H. —(UP) Police today arrested 10 residents of a boarding house here and held nine of them In separate cells for questioning about the murder of a pretty young Indianapolis waitress. The tenth, a 13-year-old carpenter, was released on his own recognizance after officers questioned him in the slaying of Mrs. Rosa Mary Dean, who was found with her throat cut In a schoolyard Monday morning. Sheriff Ewine Frasier said the man was released temporarily because he wanted to keep the 10 apart and there were no more cells at the jail here. The boarding house residents Were arrested after investigators found several pairs of blood-stain-ed overalls there. The house, which the Sheriff described as "a bad house," Is about 350 yards from the spot where Mrs. Dean's viciously slashed body was found State high patrol chief W. T. Shelton theorized that the pretty brunette was slain "somewhere else" and then carried to the yard

The carpenter, identified ss Lewis Smith, was the first one picked up. Police said he tried to throw away a rasor when he was arrested on the street here. Bloodstained overalls were found in his room and he wvre a bloodstained hat. Smith aroused officers’ suspic ions when he returned several times to the funeral home where the dead woman was taken and asked about the progress ot the investigation. He told officers he was “very drunk" Sunday night, the night Mrs. Dean was slain. Others questioned were Sherman Burge. 37, Robert Woodward, 22, and Mrs, Betty Burge, about 60, the owner of the boarding house and moth of Burge. County Agent Will Broadcast Monday Adams county agricultural agent. L. E. Archbold, will he the principal speaker on the "Little Red Bara” program to be heard on WOWO and WOWO-FM Monday morning at 6 o'clock. His subject for the broadcast will be "External Parasites of Livestock."
