MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETING HELD THURSDAY The Women's Missionary association of t)ie Nuttman Avenue United Brethren church held its month Iy meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Ireta Thornton. The meeting was opened with the call to worship by Mrs. Betty Weaver, and the hym “O Come All Ye Faithful." The scripture reading. Mathew 2:1-12 was given by tr.e program chairman. Mrs. Hazel Foor, after which Christmas poems were read by Mrs. Edith Terrell, Mrs. Bernice Gray and Mrs. Weaver. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Netti Zehr After the hymn "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" a short business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Faye Michel, Final plans were made for the Christmas gift sale on December 3; also, an African scholarship was decided on as a project from the proceeds of the coupons collected. The ineoting was then dosed with prayer by Mia. Opal Sudduth. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Faye Michel. At the close of the meeting, a gin exchange was enjoyed and lovely refreshments served.

LADIES AID HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY Members of the Ladles Aid society of the First Christian church held Its annual Christmas party i at the home of Mrs. Paul Daniels last evening. Mrs. Elmer Darwachter gave the Christmas story from the hook of St. Luke, and j the disciples prayer was repeated I in unison. Roll call was answered ‘ with a Christmas thought. Thirtytwo chureh calls were reported and ! two members were reported ill. It was then voted to send a gift of the money to the Emily E. Flinn home for the aged at Marion. Mrs. Rural Rose gave an interesting story "Poise of the Wise Man," and Mrs. Edward Anderson told of the delightful old customs of Christmas. A gift exchange was then held • around a beautifully lighted tree. Several carols were sung, and refreshments were served by the 1 hostess, assisted by Mrs. Rose ami ■ Mrs. Elmer Darwachter.
