TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING THANKSGIVING Mr. and Mrs, Gustav Hobrock, well known residents of Hoagland, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving day at the homo of Mr. and Mr., Ell Hoffman, one half mile north and one half mile west of Maples on the Tilman road A family dinner will be served at the noon hour, followed by open house for their many friend, and relative, from five to nine o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Hobro< k were married on Thanksgiving day. November 3u. 1599. in St. Peter, church north of Deiatur. They have four children: Marcella Swen.son. of Homedale. Idaho; Velma Gettman. Baltimore. Md. f-Mther Hoffman, and Oscar Hobrock, at home; and fourteen grandchildren. PLEASANT MILLS W.S.C.S. MEETS The Pleasant Mills Methodist W.S.C.S. met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Harlen Jones, with seventeen member, in attendance. The meeting opened with the devotions. "Paki.tan," by Mrs. Carl Frey. During the busine.s meeting, phfns were completed for the Thanksgiving supper ami bazzar to be held on Tuesday evening from five to seven o'clock in the Pleasant Mills Methodist church basement. The public is invited to attend. Ixively refreshments were later served by the hostess, Mrs. Jones, assisted by Mrs. Albert Mauller. Mrs. Elmer Golllff, Mrs. Ernest Fisher. Mrs. Will Evan, and Mrs. Otto Human. CIRCLES MEETING HELD THURSDAY Circles one ami two of the W.S. C.S. of the First Methodist church met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. ('. R. Saylors. Twen-ty-two members were in attendance. The meeting opened with the group singing the hymn “o Worship the King." followed by the devotional.. the ninety-eighth psalm, by Miss Iva Gllpen. Thu lesson was given by Mrs. Harry Dailey, who chose as her subject "Thanksgiving" and "Giving Thanks to God." Mrs. Dailey stressed the many things in everyday life for which one should be thankful, but the greatest of all “we should be thankful to God." Mrs. It. D. Myers also gave an interesting talk on conditions In Europe and compared the conditions there with those in America Mrs. Waiter Krl<k closed the program with a solo. The Rev. Lawrence T. Norris and Wayne Gaunt have returned home from a several days’ hunting trip in Michigan. Rev. Norris reports he shot n buck the first day of the hunting trip. The case of Richard A. Bushee vs Charles 11. Williams, for payment of partnership interest, has been filed in the Wells circuit court on change of venue. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Nichols, who have been residing in Detroit, are visiting here They will leave next week for Arizona, where they plan to spend the winter. Brownie troop 17 met recently at the Lincoln school. The meeting opened with the Brownie song, following which dues w-erw paid. Lynne Koons. Sharon Sheets, Connie Baxter, Jaralee Merriman and Jane Bedwell presented a Brownie play, followed by a tea party for the Brownie mothers. The meeting then closed with the Brownie flag ceremony. Five persons were killed and three injured, two critically, when the jeep In which they were riding was struck by a train near here today. Doctors, Nurses Needed In Alaska There Is an urgent need for doctors, nurses and medical technicians in the Alaska native service hospital, the (I. H. civil service commission has announced. Positions for physic ians, accord-1 Ing to individual qualification*, carry annual salaries ranging from f(.750 to fk.OOO. including 25 percent cost of living which Is paid federal employes who work In Alaska. Nurse and medical technician positions carry salaries of 13.375 a year, which includes the Alaska differential. Medical technologists should be able to operate a clinical laboratory. X-ray. EKG and B.MR machine. Furnished houses or apartments for physicians rent for about 335 per month. Furnished quarters and subsistence for nurses and technicians are also available at moat of the hospitals for about $35 a month. Garage Mechanic Is Made Human Torch Assailants Splash Gasoline Over Man Detroit. Nov Ik — (I'P) A middle-aged garage mechanic was made a human torch by two assailants who splashed a bucket of gasoline on his clothes and then touched a match to him. Through burned lips he told police that as he walked down a dark alley near his home he heard someone say "let her go."
