’ DECATUR W.C.T.U. MEETING HELD A meeting of the Decatur W.C. T.V. was held at the home of Mrs. John Hocker in Monroe Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Raymond Crist was devotional leader, using the fortysixth psalm, and giving comments from the 'Tpper Room.” Prayer followed. The song "Count Your Blessings" was sung by the group, following which a piano solo was presented by Mrs. Homer Winter-; et’g. Mrs. Jess Niblick explained the program outline in the program , guide, followed by the pledge to the flag. An interesting digest from the I'nion Signal was ghen by Mrs. Vernon Riley, and Mrs. Otis Brandyberry gave the chapter in the study book "In General Why Do People Drink." During the business meeting, it was voted to remember the patients at the Adams county home during the holiday season. Closing prayer was then offered by Mrs. C. E. Hocker. SO CHA REA MEETING IS HELD RECENTLY Mrs. T. J. Metzler was hostess recently to members of So Cha Ilea. Mrs. Paul Briede was a guest. After a short business meeting, bridge was played and prizes won by Mrs. Elizabeth Hersh and Mrs Briede The next meeting will be In two weeks at the home of Mrs. Russell I Byers in Willshire, O MEETING OF CIVIC SECTION IS HELD The Civic department of the Decatur Woman's club entertained their new members with a dinner party Monday at the Bethany Evangelical t'nited Brethren church. Mrs. Paul Hansel, chairman. Introduced Mrs. Carl Striker. Mrs. Joe Thompson, Mrs. Myles Parrish. Mrs. Ralph Stanley and Mrs Norman Kruse, the new members. Following the dinner, the group was Invited to the home of Mrs. Dick McConnell, where a business meeting was held. It was voted to contribute ten dollars-to the Community Fund. Robert Anderson, city attorney, was present at the meeting and explained the proposed Community Center to the group. Bingo was later played The committee in charge included Mrs. Dick McConnell. Haney Is serving dessert. The standing committee reports were made, and a thank you note from the Riley hospital for cookies from the local chapter was read. The chapter then voted threehundred dollars to the memorial foundation fund; also, to send a box of candles for the "c audles for Korea" drive. Mrs. Milo Biack presented the .program on Hawaii, and also showed interesting movies. She was assisted by Mrs. Noah Steury. The next meeting will be the Christmas party on December 6 at tbe home of Miss Fan Hite. A one dollar gift exchange will fol low the pot-luck dinner at six thirty o'clock. DELTA THETA TAU MEETING IS HELD Mrs. Kenneth Arnold presided at the regular business meeting of Omicron chapter of Delta Theta Tail sorority held Tuesday evening at the Elks home J. Ward Calland was Introduced and gave an inspiring talk cm the proposed Community Center project. The soror ity then pledged seven hundred and fifty dollars to the fund. Mrs. Arnold also announced the official opening of the Christmas Good Fellows club. Due to the tremendous response- from the public last year, it wan necessary to launch plans at this time The committee in charge will be announced at Hie next regular meeting. The firemen have volunteered to teip with the project and have also granted Hie use of the fire station us headquarters. The station will be open for acceptance of clothing and donations from December 1 to Iteceinber 12. Further plans will be announc ed at a later date.
