The department announced a price support of 52.1 l a bushel for rreen and yellow soy beans grading t’. S. no. 2. Brown, black and mixed soy beans will be supported at sl9l a bushel Premiums and discounts will apply to other grades. These support prices are calcui lated to return soybean producers an average of 90 percent of the Hept. 1 parity price. Supports for the 1949 crop also had been set at 90 percent of parity. During the past year parity prices have dropIped slightly because of a dip in farming production and living I costs. Prhe supports will be available through 1 loans and purchase agreements from harvest time through Jan 31. 1950. Only soy beans grading U. S. no. 4 or better and and containing no more than 14 percent moisture will be

Jobless Insurance i Claims On Decrease Indianapolis, Sept. 1. — (VP) —’ Jobless insurance claims showed a decrease last week from the week ending Aug. 20. Everett I.- Gard-, tier, director of the Indiana em-' i ployment security division, said today. Gardner said he expected jobless claims to drop even more in the next few weeks because of the reopening of schools and the expectied seasonal uptrend of employment. luswt week the number of continued unemployment claims dropped 116 percent to 37.5431 from 42.474 for the week ending 1 Aug. 20. Initial claims declined ; , 13.3 percent from 6.173 for the I week of Aug 20. to 5,362 last week. About one-fifth of the nation's land now available for crops has been made aral le or more produii tive by drainage improvements.
