In this lesson gratitude is elpressed because of spiritual blessings: songs of praise belong in public worship and in the life of Individuals who want to develop a sense of God’s presence and divine favor. V I "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy name. O most High.'' To give thanks to God is good for us and for those around us. It helps to divert our minds from our trials and troubles and to lift us above them. Most people undergo seasons when their spirits are depressed. It is our duty to return thanks both to God and to man for any favors or service rendered; thanksgiving enriches the soul who gives it and gladdens the one who receives it .Not to express gratitude to God is bad manners as is also not to lie grateful to others who befriend us. The practice of singing has a wholesome spiritual effect. V 2. "To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness in the evening " Praises to God are best assured If there Is a system, a definite program. with morning and evening devotions. Prayer Just at perilous times has little merit: God is not to lie considered a big banker but a loving father full of loving kindness and faithfulness in providing and caring for all our needs. An evenly tempered life, well-balanced, has good spiritual habits, one of which is stated mented by a constant flow of grateful thoughts V 3. "Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery: upon the harp with a solemn sound" Music adds to individual praises as well as corporate worship where there are united voices of praise There is a place for emotion in worship, which is combined with mental conception* of divine truths. The head and heart need to function together. V. 4. "For thou. !«ord. hast made
is it our duty to help everybody who needs help? The answer is "No." We humans are limited in time, wisdom, and strength, and i( we undertake to help everybody, we shall soon be helping nobody. We need to be guided by the principle to help those first who need help most and go down the line as far as possible. Catalogue the list, such as those who are discouraged and need a word of cheer, those who are tried and tempted an need a guide, those who are seeking to live at their >est but are faltering, those in sorrow, the sick, the aged. But, help somebody today.” LESSON PRAYER: Lesson prayer: We pray for an increasing spirit of gratitude to God that there may flow out of ur hearts constant streams of mgs of praise. Grant that we nay so count our blassing* that >ur moods of depression may be Himinated. We pray that with >ther» we may produce choruses »f praise to God.

Children from such homes have a hard time when out in the world When they are rebuked, they resent it; when given commands, they refuse to obey; when assigned a difficult task they don't know how to concentrate The Christian training of children is not easy, hut the task is w-ell begun when they are taueht to obey when they are still babies.
