EE.-TEa .. ' .Mil I Creamed S| I Comments Wl ■. on as/’craß r. Lesson Creamed Comments on the Sunday School Lesson, Jesus Risej from the Dead. .Mark 14:2-7, John ! 21:3-12, for Sunday. June 19. I The greatest event of all time Is the resurrection of Christ. In this fait we learn that Christ can not he defeated and that in his promise of everlasting life we too shall be resurrected in due time. V 2. "And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they tame to the sepulcher al the rising of the sun." The tendernecs i.ud affection natural to women 's here demonstrated as these women dared to venture to the tomb of Christ, they did not wait to declare their love but came at the first opportunity, early in the morning. V. 3. " And they said among themI selves. Who shall roll us away the i stone from the door of the sepui--1 her?' They recognized a surmount- ; tde obstacle calling for help other t.iait their own They proceeded by faith. When we ran not walk by sight we can walk by faith. V. 4. " And when they looked they saw that the stone was roiled ftway; for ft was very great." We often think anxiously about the future, only to find, when at last it becomes the present, that God in his power and kindness has pushed aside the obstacles we feared. V. 5. "And entering into the sepui- < her. they saw a young man sitting on the right side clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted." Elsewhere it is written that this young man was 1 an angel, he was not in human f irm but a spiritual being similar to Christ after his resurrection: 1 all that can be said of spiritual ' 1 beings Is mysterious but nevertheless a fact. Such a manifestation produces awe. well described by tLe example of the women who were affrighted. V. 4. "And he saith unto them, Be ■ not affrighted; ye seek Jesus of; Nazareth, which was crucified; he 1 is not here; behold the- place where they laid him." No one saw the actual resurrection, but the evidences of the resurrection are overwhelming. V.7. But go your way. tell his disciples and Peter that he godtb Before you intd Galilee; there ye ' shall see him as he said." Peter ‘ Unseen Power Great men are those who do com- , monplace things extraordinarily well. It is a matter of being at ' ene's best and doing one’s lies’. Every moment has an opportunity 1 for self-expression, in thought, word or deed. Reduced to simplest form. It is thinking our best, speaking I effectively and truly and doing what I# most worthwhile. This is such a big job that there Is no 1 time for criticism of other* but 1 rather a call for the help of God. I I LESSON PRAYER: 1 Lesson prayer: We praise God | that we have the overwhelming | evidence that Jesus rose from the , lead, that fellowship with Jesus tontinues, and that we his children may enjoy him as our best Friend. 1

1 In his great sorrow, having denied Christ, was now comforted with ; the words "and Peter." ! V. 3. "Sinton Peter saith unto I them. I go a fishing; they say unto | him. We also go with thee. They I went forth and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they cangiit nothing.” These disciples were dejected and needed recreation and also possibly some income. No wonder so many ministers today like fishing, thus being in line with the early disciples. Fishing was wood but catching was poor. V. 4. “Hut when the morning was now come. Jesus stood on the sho«-; but the disciples know not that it was Jesus." The supernatural pow-<-w of this stranger on the shora was revealed in the command to put the net down on the right side, when as a result a large quantity of fish was caught Here was a repvfi* tion of a former similar experience. Bo many times Jesus appears unknown t»day. V.7. "Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, it is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that ft was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat on him (for | he was naked), and did cast himself , Into the sea." The exclamation, "fl I is the Lord," has passed Into th" heart and the lips of all Christians who, amidst the various scenes of life, have recognized the Saviour's 1 presence. The revelation was made to John who loved him most. Love I lias much to do with our seeing | the Lord. V.B. "And the other disciples came in a little ship dragging the net with the fishes." The power Os a good influence leads others to r.Mociate with the Lord. V. 9. "As soon as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, ami bread.' This was miraculous and •in harmony with other specially miraculous elements after Christ's resurrection. V.lft. "And Jesus saith to them. Bring of the fish which ye have now caught." A bountiful meal was to he prepared in which all shared. One place where Jesus will reveal himself is at meals, if we will duly I recognize him. V.ll. “Simon Peter went up, and i drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty thret; and for all there were so many, yet the net broke not." The net miraculously held together. V. 12. "Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of th" disciples durst ask him. Who art thou? Knowing that it was the Lord.” Some strange emotion seal-; ed their lips. v > Clericus Says: Clericus says: "We encounter the lx»rd where we least expect to find him. He is with us in the everyday tasks of life. Even when we disappoint him and disobey his commands. as Peter and the other disciples did when they left Jerusalem, nevertheless, he follow* ns, forgives, and rebuke# us. .with the . munificence of hi* love.”* f Book Review . 1 Story Without End, by Solomon Landman and Benjamin Feron, • Henry Holt and Company, is an Informal history of the Jew* as a • living people, of the force* that helped to share them, und of thy I influence they in turn have exerted upon the history of man. The 1 story starts with the prehistory of four thousand years ago and carries through to the recent founding of ' the state of Israel. Much careless speaking is the expression of clouded thinking.
