QUEEN OF ROSARY STUDY CLUB MEETS The Queen of the Rosary study club met recently at the home of ! Mrs. Rose Tricker. Mrs. Cordelia Schults, leader for the evening, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by roll call. The topic for discussion was "The Missel." The i meeting closed with prayer. The next meeting will be held in September, at which time new officers will be elected. CHURCH MOTHERS MEET RECENTLY The Church Mothers study club met recently at the home of Mrs. Robert Mills. The meeting opened with the club creed and song. A short business meeting was then held, at which time plans were made for the last meeting of the year, to be a family picnic at Han-na-Nuttrnan park. Mrs. Carl Baxter then reviewed the topic, "Stability Begin* at Home." and “Who’s Afraid" from Parents magazine was given by Mrs. Hugh Engle. Defendants Acted On Moscow Orders Communist Chiefs' Trial Is Continued New York. June 16. (UP) — U. 8. attorney John F. X. McOohey continued today to cross examine Gilbert Green. Illinois Communist chief whose testimony he termed "damaging" to the party’s defense »t the conspiracy trial ot 11 of Its leaders. M<-Gohey said Green s testimony in federal court yesterday proved the defendants, who formed an American politburo, took orders directly from the Russian politburo in Moscow. The defendants are charged with conspiring to teach and advocate violent overthrow of the government. Meanwhile. It was learned that Paul Robeson, who Is scheduled to arrive here today by plane from Moscow will appear as a defense witness later in the trial. The negro baritone said yesterday in the Russian capital that he was "hastening to return to the United States to testify at the (ria) of Communist party leaders." Robeson has lAen in Russia for 10 days to attend a celebration In memory of poet Alexander Pushkin. Green testified that the politburo •hrew out former party leader Earl Browder's get-along-with capitalism policy in 1945 because he “mistakenly” thought big business had given up working toward “imper iallst and monopoly capitalism." He said the change In policy was made between May 24 and June 2. 1945. McOohey recalled that an article by French Communist leader Jacquest Dildos calling for a stiffening of hfs American comrades' attitude toward big business was published in the daily worker on May 24.
