The house approved the pension bill yesterday by a vote of 365 to 27. It would authorize $72-a---month pensions for needy, 65-year-old veterans of World Wars I and 11. Open Recreation At Monmouth June 14 Summer Recreation Program Is Planned A committee of persons highly interested in recreation met Tuesday evening at Monmouth high school to plan a summer recreation ' program to be held at the Mon- ■ mouth gymnasium. The program, featuring games, contests, and entertainment for all members of the family, will begin on the evening of Tuesday, June 14. Plans are to j conduct a similar program oncej each week for a period of eight i weeks. The public is invited to take I part in these activities. It was decided that a standing, committee made up of two persons | each from Preble, Root, and Union I Townships be in charge of the sum- q mer programs. Those selected for this committee are: Preble, Mr. and Mrs. William Kruetzman; Root, Mrs. Herbert Braun and Rich-' ard D. Lewton; and from Union,' Martin Bulmahn and Fred Thieme. I This committee will meet every i two weeks to select their help and, plan the program. Anyone wishing to make program suggestions or desiring to help should contact one of these committeemen. Activities which may be included in the program are ping pong, shuffle-board, tether ball, volley j ball, badminton, table games, dialogues and plays, square dancing,! motion pictures, group and individ-, ual stunts, and other specialities to be announced from week to week. Those attending the committee meeting, each of whom is assisting with the June 14 program, are: Hansel Foley of Treble, George Schieferstein, August Selking, Mrs. Herbert Braun, Mrs. Chaliner Stev-; ens, Richard D. Lewton, Mrs. John. Magley, Mrs. F. L. Grandstaff, andl Mrs. Edward Peck, all of Root, and 'Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bulmahn of I Union township.
Paul Hoile Wili Be Graduated Sunday Paul “Piss" Hoile, formerly of , this city, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto. Hoile of Fort Wayne, will receive bis master's degree in biology from Notre Dame University at gradua-, Ition exercises next Sunday. A of Valparaiso Uni-, vei'slty, Mr. Hoile received a fellowship to Notre Dame, where in ! addition to his studies he was an assistant professor. Several Decatur friends have received invitations to the commencement exercises, which will be held in the Notre Dame stadium. Double Funeral For Accident Victims Connersville, Ind., June 3—(UP) —A double funeral will be held Saturday for Mr. and Mrs. Carter Pennington, victims of a train-auto accident. Mrs. Pennington, 60. died yesterday, two days after the accident. Her husband, 60, died Tuesday night. Their granddaughter, Joyce Van Din. 5, who was with them ! when a Baltimore and Ohio freight train struck their auto, was in fair ; condition. Seven children survive.
