FOREIGN COSTUMES TO MARK FESTIVAL HERE Seventeen costumes representing foreign countries are being secured for the world friendship festival reception committee. This special social event of the Adams county home economics association is scheduled for Friday, June 17 at the Decatur high school gymnasium. The reception committee is headed by Mrs. Xariffa Walters of Union township. This committee will be in charge of greeting guests, seating arrangements during the program, and ushering during the serving of refreshments. As wide a variety as possible in costumes these ushers will wear is the aim of the committee. Efforts are being made to secure outfits typical of those worn on festival occasions by the following people; German, Spanish, Swiss Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian, French, African, Hindu, Egyptian, Dutch, Non wegian, Szechs, Scots, Italian, Romanian and Irish. Mrs. Ray Lambert, of Gantan,
state president of the Indiana home economics association, has been invited to attend. She will tell briefly of her recent attendance at a conference of the united national education, scientific cultural organization. CHURCH MOTHERS STUDY CLUB MEETS A meeting of the Church Mothers study club was held recency at the home of Mrs. Virgil Doyle. The meeting opened with the group singing the club song, followed by the devotions by Mrs. Robert Mill-1 er. After a short business meeting,) Mrs. Niland Ochsenrider gave an) interesting discussion on “What Are Comic Books." Mrs. Russell Owens reviewed the topic “Christianity in the Home” from the Christian Home magazine. The program closed with the club prayer. Kenneth McConnell returned today to Indiana University at Bloomington after attending the Decatur high school ment exercises. Dave Moore, United States navy, is visiting his parents in Decatur. He will leave in a few days for a trip to South America. Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Kohne and family will spend the week-end at their summer home at Lake Gage. Ministers' Wives At Reception At Church Conclave Saturday at noon, the wives of the Methodist ministers of the county will be guests at a reception in Richmond where the North Indiana conference of the Methodist church is now in session. Among those who will attend, are: Mrs. Gerald Jones and Mrs.) C. C. Conn, Decatur; Mrs. Ralph Johnson, Pleasant Mills; Mrs. W. L. Hall, Monroe; Mrs. Clayton Steele and Mrs. J. W. Wilkins of Geneva. One of the features of the reception will be a trip through the Joseph H. Hill’s greenhouses—reputed to be one of the largest producers of roses in the world. The ladies will be the personal guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. B. T. Daggy. Mrs. Richard Raines, wife of Bishop Raines, will be the guest speaker. Saturday evening the program is under the guidance of George Fenstermacher, executive secretary of the board of education for the conference. Dr. H. D. Bpllinger, member of the staff of the general board of education, Nashville, Tenn., will 'be the first speaker. This will be followed by an address by Dr. Edward P. Blair, professor of Biblical interpretation. Evanston, HI. Dr. Blair has gained recognition in the scholastic world by writing “The Acts and Apocalyptic Literature.” Local Man Fined For Public Intoxication Frank Eyanson, 62, 222 South Sixteenth street, today was committed to Adams county jail for ten days, to “lay out” a $1 and costs fine assessed in J. P. court. He was arrested by city police Thursday for public intoxication, i Clyde Harden. 52, rural route 5, was fined $1 and costs in J. P. court today on charges of driving without a license, following his involvement in an auto collision at Monroe and Third streets Thursday. The second driver was Richard K. Des Jean, 24. 338 South Third street. City police investigated. The man of integrity follows the road of duty.

District Democrats Will Meet Tuesday j Democrat county chairmen and , vice-chairmen of the fourth congressional district will meet next Tuesday night at 8 o'clock at the Fort Wayne country club to elect a successor to district chairman Harold Kelley, Angola, who has re- ' signed to accept a state position. Several county chairmen of the district are said to be aspirants for the post. Kelley will move his family to Indianapolis as soon as he finds housing facilities. Rev. Gillander Named Committee Chairman The Rev. A. C. E. Gillander, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city, was elected chairman of the united promotions committee of the Fort Wayne Presbytery, at a meeting Thursday evening at Howe.
