A mee ing of the Do Your Best class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will be held Thursday evening at seven thirty o’clock at the church. Hostesses will be Mrs. Scheiderer, Mrs. Homer Bittner, Mrs. Tom Andrews and Mrs. Frank Fisher. The Pleasant Mills Methodist W. S. C. S. will meet Thursday afternoon at one thirty o’clock at the church. The state convention of the Federation of Clubs will be held in South Bend on May 26, 27 and 28. A breakfast for eighth district members will be held at seven fifteen o’clock on May 27 and reservations should be made with Mrs. R. C. Hersh before May 21. The Root Township Home Economics club will meet at one thirty o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Schnepf, Sr. Members are asked to bring articles for the silent auction. A talk on recreation will also be given by Dennis Norman. Sam Shepherd, for many years a resident here but for the past two decades in business at Lima, Ohio, is visi ing friends in Decatur. The members of the board of directors of the Citizens Telephone company will hold their regular monthly meeting at the home of Leo Yager, president, Friday afternoon. Mr. Yager has been housed up for some time wl:h arthritis and the board sessions are held at his home.
Max Schafer, newly appointed member of the Indiana industrial board, held a hearing at Fort Wayne Tuesday afternoon and took the opportunity to come to Decatur or a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kohne and son, Christopher, of Bloomington, Miss Kathy Kohne of St. Mary’s college, Notre Dame, and Miss Rosemarie Kohne, of Gary, visited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kohne. Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Homestead 33, are parents of a baby girl, born at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday at the Adams county memorial hospital. She weighed 7 pounds and has been named Beckey Darlene. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Alberson, Geneva, at 10:34 o’clock Tuesday night at the local hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. Ronald Wayne is the name of the baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Basinger at 5:15 a.m. today at the Adams county hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. Moresi han 50 men and boys are expected to attend a dinner and hobby show at the First Presbyterian church tonight. The men’s club of the church is entertaining a number of juniors. A. D. Decatur Young Men To Graduate June 6 To Receive Degrees « At Indiana Central Two Decatur young men will be graduated from Indiana Cen’ral College, Indianapolis, at exercises on June 6, the college announced today. Lewis Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs C. O. Brown of route three, and Vernon Smitley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smitley, route four, are among the graduates. Mr. Brown is a member of Alpha Psi Omega dramatic fraternity and will receive his bachelor of «cience in education degree for a teaching career He is a member o” the cas‘ of the senior class nlnv. “Ot Hearts. Were Young and Gay." Mr. Smitlev majored in music and will receive his bachelor of science in education degree. Bishop Richard C. Sunday, June 1, will be the day for the baccalaureate service which is to be held in the University Heights Evangelical church at 11 a. m. When Newfoundland becomes part of Canada as the result of confederation next week, the 100.872 Anglicans there will come into the Church of England in Canada, forming the 2Sth diocese in this country. Os the 320,000 people in Newfound land, roughly one-fourth are members or adherents of the United Church of Canada. There are three congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada in the new "tejith province.” The diocese of Newfoundland will be represented in Montreal on May 17 when the ecclesiastical province of Canada meets under the chairmanship of Archbishop Philip Carrington.
