S. entertained members of the Pleasant Mills W. S. C. S. recently. The meeting opened with the song “We’ve a Sjory,” followed by the devotionals by Mrs. Edward Tricker. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Ida Reilly and special music was presented by Mrs. Ralph Johnson. Mrs. Tricker, a former missionary, then gave an interesting account of her experiences in South America. A lovely luncheon was later served in the church basement.

LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS FRIDAY NIGHT The American Legion auxiliary meeting Was held at the Legion home Friday evening. Mrs'. Severin Schurger, who attended the community fund meeting, gave a report on community service. She was also requested to ask ten members to send a letter to their congressman in behalf of national security training. Mrs. Tillman Gehrig, Mrs. R. C. Hersch, Mrs. T. C Smith and Mrs Nick Braun reported on the district meeting held recently at Monroeville. Memorial services 1 were then held for Mrs. Mary Wilkinson and the charter draped by the sergeant of arms. A bulletin was also read urging members to hear the department president, Mrs. Pauline Grahm, on May'2l from three fifteen to three thirty o'clock on WKBV, Richmond. An invitation was extended the unit to attend a party honoring the department president, department vice-president, and district president, by unit 2071 Willshire, for May 25 at eight p. m. Each unit will be asked to assist in the program. Reservations should be made with Mrs. Clark Flajigh or Mrs. Dallas Brown. Mrs. Nick Braun also urged members to assist in the poppy sale on May 27 and 28. Money from the sale will be for the rehabilitation of the disabled and the welfare of veterans children. i Officers nominated by the committee are: president, Mrs. Joe Rash; first vice-president, Mrs. Roxie Kessler and Miss Margaret Eiting; secretary, Mrs. Dallas Brown; treasurer, Mrs. T.i C. Smith; historian, Mrs. Elmer Darwachter; chaplain, Mrs. R. C. Hersch; sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. Severin Schurger and Miss Tye Frye; executive board, Mrs. Tillman Gehrig, Mrs. Ralph Roop, Mrs. Ed Bauer. The next meeting will be held on May 27. — i RURAL LETTER CARRIERS MEET SATURDAY NIGHT The spring meeting of the Adams county rural letter carriers and ladies auxiliary was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Iceland L. Frank on North Second street Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald i Durkin assisted. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed followed by a business meeting and social hour. All officers were re-1 elected for the coming year. They 1 are: president, Jesse A. Dyson,' Geneva; vice-president, Raymond Beer, Berne; secretary-treasurer! Gerald Durkin, Decatur. Various resolutions were discussed and referred to Leland Frank, chairman of the resolutions committee. Delegates were appointed to attend the 1 state convention to be held in! The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Heckman, of route 1. The Rev. E. T, Schmledtke received the vows at seven o'clock in the Zion Lutheran church at Friedheim, before the altar banked with palms and bouquets of mixed flowers, and lighted with tall tapers H. F. Nielsen, organist, presen'ed a recital of traditional bridal selections precWjling the service, and played Lohengrin's and Mendelssohn's wedding inarches. The bridal gown featured a marquise'te yoke and a chqntilly lace i bertha. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gerber of this city motored to Hanover college ’ Sunday and also visited other southern Indiana ci ies. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hite motored to Cincinnati Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Langston and daughter Alice spent Saturday at Bloomington. Miss Langston has enrolled for the fall term at Indiana University and lias been awarded a voice scholarship. Carl Beehler returned to his studies at Hanover college after spending the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Uvehler of this city. Many Adams county residents took advantage of the mild weekend and visited northern Indiana lakes. Several good catches of blitegills were reported. The annual drive for funds by the Adams county cancer society will close in the next few days. Adams county is one of the few Indiana counties which has met its (quota every year since the organization ( of the state society. Thurman Drew is chairman of the drive for funds and Roy Kalver is pres- ; ident of the group.

Adams have returned from a two-months stay at Melbourne, Fla., and report a very enjoyable time. B. H. Eiting, of Bluffton, has purchased the John Collins residence at Vera Cruz and will move there with his family the latter part of the month. He has not announced what business he plans to engage in.
