Methodist Laymen To Meet May 21-22 Hold Advance Rally At Indianapolis Six laymen of the First Method- j man’s advance rally at Indianapol ) ist church will attend a state layis. Alva Lawson, Fred Busche, Charles Stitzer, L. L. Hann, Sylvester Everhart and Fred Mills by virtue of the office held in the local church, are to attend. About 750 leaders of Methodist men inj every county .of the state will par-] ticipate in this layman’s advance rally “For Christ and His Church*’ May 21 and 22 at Robert Park Methodist church, Indianapolis. An unusual program lias been arranged, bringing together on the , same platform’ national figures in the field of religion, agriculture, management, labor and co-operat-ives. The program is in no sense a debate between capital and labor, between urban and rural areas, be-j tween enterprise and co-operatives or between religion and materialism. it is planned to dramatize the! common Christianity of all these j forces. The speakers at the Saturday afternoon session, beginning at 2:30 p. m. are scheduled to be Hassil Schenck, president of the Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. Waldo Adams, an Akron farmer; Glenn* W. Thompson, president of NoblittSparks Industries, Columbus, and Bishop Richard C. Raines, Indianapolis, head of the Indiana area of the Methodist church. At the Saturday evening session, beginning at 7:30 p. m„ speakers will be Victor G. Reuther, director of the education department, United Auto Workers (CIO), and M- JBriggs, general manager, Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op Association, Inc. On Sunday morning prominent laymen will fill the pulpits of Indianapolis churches. On Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Ivan L. Willis, vice-president of International Harvester company, will speak. Mr. Adams, who is Methodist lay leader in the North Ind;ar.:t conference, shares leadership ot the rally with iE. J.
