HOOSIER MAY REFUSE (Cont. From Page One) undertaker,” Stirling said. “I think I’m as good as anybody.” Stirling said there are a lot of reasons why he doesn’t care to go to Scotland to take over. He has a good business here and in Acton, Ind. “There’s a Stirling castle, but I don’t think they would throw it in,” he said. “Mostly they seem to think a Baronet shouldn’t do anything but look after his estate.” He said that wouldn’t appeal to “plain Bob Stirling.” Stirling said that for his wife it. was another matter. "She wants to go over there and see about it. I told her to wait a little while. They’ll have to send us the title, or it will lapse. And they won’t want to let it lapse,” he said. ‘ Stirling said he is the only direct male heir to the titft. Both sons of Sir George were killed in the war. About two years ago Sir George telephoned him to tell Stirling hd was heir presumptive. “He wanted to know it I would accept before he died,” Stirling said. “I told him I’d think about it.” Stirling was born in Aoton, and he never has been in Scotland. His son, John C. Stirling, 27, is a partner in the undertaking business. “Even if I couldn’t use the title in this country,” Stirling said, “it sure would be a nice thing to pass on to the boy.” Bendix Mediation Meeting Breaks Up Fourth Meeting Is Slated Late Today South Bend, Ind., May 5—(UP)— A 13-hour mediation meeting between federal conciliators and officials of the Bendix Aviation Corp, and the striking CIO United Auto workers broke up without results at 4:45 a.m. today. A fourth meeting was scheduled for 3 p.m. today, the 16th day of a strike by 7,500 Bendix workers because of an alleged speedup and in protest against the discharge of employes. While the meeting, which began at 2 p.m. yesterday, was in progress. eight trucks moved brake dies and parts belonging to the ' Nash Motor Co. of the Nash-Kelvi-i nator Corp, out of the strikebound Jlant. "It is still too early to be optimistic about the matter,” said E. M. Sconyers, one of two federal mediators at the meeting, “however, we are convinced that it is worthwhile to call another meeting this afternoon.” Nash, which was the first motor company affected by the strike when its plants at Milwaukee and Kenosha, Wls., were forced to shut down, was the fifth auto maker to obtain a writ of replevin to get its dies out of the strikebound plant. Pickets from Bendix local No. 9 of the UAW-CIO stood aside as the trucks rolled out. Earlier Ford, General Motors, Hudson and Kaiser- Fraser all took their dies out of the plant. True firs grow their cones upward.
