Williams Home Demonstration Agent Spring Cleaning Homemakers will be pleased with 'the great variety of patterns they j will find when they shop for wall- . paper this spring. I Dealers’ shelves are well stocked I with wallpaper in all qualities to 5 meet every purse. To avoid delay I i’t delivery now is a good time to i buy if papering is to be included in spring house cleaning. The amount of natural light, use of the room and size of the room are most important to consider in selecting the paper. Keep in mind the pieces and color of furniture, height of ceilings, and color preferences of the family. If it is desired to make a large worn appear smaller, large, bold patterns and dark, warm shades of t ed. brown, and rose are used. To make a smaller room look larger, small patterns in pale cool shades of blue, gray, cream, or ivory are used. Woodwork should be light in color if a light color predominates in the wallpaper. If it is desired to increase the height of the ceiling, vertical stripes are the answer for the side wall. However, the decrease ceiling height, horizontal stripes or pattern is best; in some cases the molding can be lowered 12 to 18 inches. Dark, warm colors'also will lower the ceiling. Pale, light ones have a tendency to give height. Awkward corners may be prepared with contrasting papers to blend with the color of the furniture. The corner can also be as a background for something in the room. To determine the amount of paper needed to paper a room, the number of square feet to be covered is divided by 30. Although a single roll covers 36 square feet, dividing by 30 allows for waste in cutting. trimming, and matching paper. One roll of paper is subtracted for every two regular openings such as windows and doors. •. Before papering, the old loose wallpaper should be removed. For painted walls — kalsomine should be washed off, rinsed size applied. Cracks and creavices need to be repaired. Many Eggs Eggs take the center of the stage

in the line-up of foods which are expected to be plentiful and consequently “good buys” on markets generally next month. May is the moiith when eggs usually are at their peak of production and when, because of big supplies, prices are lowest for the year. Now’ is the time, therefore, to get out all those good egg recipes to be ready to take advantage of this spring plenty. Even careful budgeters can indulge in omelets, custards, sponge cakes and all those other egg treats which appeal to family appetites and offer such good nutritive value. Foresee Recovery Os James Forrestal Excessive Work Is . Blamed For Illness Washington. April 12—(UP)— Navy mgdical officers believed rest and medical treat ment’will-bring about the recovery of former defense secretary Janies Forrestal who is suffering from ‘operational fatigue" A bulletin from the. Bethesda. Md., naval medical center said Forrestal's ailment “is directly‘the result of excessive work during the war and postwar years." The former cabinet member was admitted to the hospital April 2 for a "physical checkup." (Radio commentator Drew Pearson said in a Sunday broadcast that Forrestal "is out of his mint] and apparently has been partly so for some weeks.”) The hospital announced last night that Forrestal's checkup has been completed! It said he has lost 25 pounds in recent weeks and, at the present time, "has a marked low blood pressure, a secondary anemia, and a neuro-muscu-lar weakness which is characteristically seen in states of exhaustion." the Pearson report, the hospital said: “The only psychiatric symptoms present are those associated with a state of excessive fatigue. This clinical picture was very common during the war years in {hose members of' the services who were exposed to severely fatiguing conditions and was ordinarily diagnosed ‘operational fatigue.’ “Tbe physicians in charge of his case anticipate that a period of rest and medical treatment will result in recovery.” Rear Adm. N. L. Pugh, deputy chief of the navy bureau of medicine and surgery, visited Forrestal shortly before the hospital bulletin was released. He said the former defense secretary "talked very rationally," and should be able to leave the hospital "in a short time."
