Average Wholesale Meat Prices Lower Chicago, March 24 —. (UP) — The average wholesale price of meat is now six percent below that of a year ago, the American meat institute reported today. Despite a seasonal slump in supplies, current prices also are 21 percent below last summer's record peaks, the institute said. Pork loins and bacon have shown the greatest wholesale price declines compared with a year ago. The institute predicted that supplies of all kinds of meat will be Io percent higher in April and May than a year ago. However, a packing house workers’ strike crippled production last year, it said. Plan Chattanooga Plant Rebuilding Berne. March 24 — The directors and officers of the Berne Equity Exchange company have announced that the Chattanooga, Ohio, branch which was destroyed by fire recently, will be rebuilt as soon as possible. They are now studying plans and specifications for the proposed new building. The debris of the old building has been cleared ; away. Suspend Business During Three Hours Berne, March 24 — The Berne Chamber of Commerce has adopted a resolution to close local business places for three hours on Good Friday, April 15, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. A Good Friday service will be held at the First Mennonite church during that period. The Chamber of Commerce also voted to extend an official welcome to the state C. E. convention, which will hold its annual meeting in Berne In June.
