Seeks Added Money For Stale Hospital Logansport Hospital Head Makes Request 9 Indianapolis, Feb. 17—(UP)— The acting superintendent of Longcliff hospital left with the Indiana (legislature today an appeal for SBO,OOO more than provided for his institution in the state budget committee recommendations for the next two years. Richard Gohl said the Logansport institution for mental patients was short 10 doctors, a superintendent and a psychiatrist. ' Gohl said most of the reports on conditions at Longcliff were true. But he said it was a situation that could not be improved without adequate funds. Other state mental hospital spokesmen also appealed for more money at a meeting of the house ways and means committee last night. Arthur Loftin, acting director of the Indiana council on mental health, told the committee the budget was so low the hospitals could not add nurses or attendants and improved treatment facilities. The committee was told that “unsuitable” employes hired because salaries were low sometimes mistreated patients. Rep. Joseph Klein, D., Gary, a member of the committee, said he would ask governor Schricker to urge hospital superintendents to tile criminal affidavits against employes found mistreating patients. $550 Damage Done As Autos Collide Damage estimated at more than $550 was incurred at 11:15 this morning when two automobiles collided at an intersection on state road 101 one-half mile from U.
