Lincoln Exhibit On Display At Library Interesting Display Attracts Visitors An exhibit, containing a replica of Abraham Lincoln's first library and other interesting books and papers concerning the work and life of the Civil War president, is on display at the Decatur public library this week. The first Lincoln library, ‘which was on his desk while he was a young lawyer in Illinois, contained nine books. They included a copy of the Bible, “Aesop's Fables,” “Pilgrim's Progress/' Chitty’s "Blackstone.” volumes I and 11, “Acts of the 1831 Indiana general assemblv," Meem’s "Life of Washington.' “His-, tory of the United States” - and “Robinson Crusoe." Exact duplicates of all these books except “Robinson Crusoe,’ bearing the same publication dates as the original Lincoln Library were furnished for the display by Henry B. Heller, local attorney. A copy of the New York Herald, telling of Lincoln’s death and the first biography after his death. ’“Pionetr Boy," also are included In the exhibit. The Lincoln display was arranged by Miss Bertha Heller, librarian, and it is attracting many visitors.
Laundry Operator Is Named In Suit Warsaw, Ind., Feb. 8 — (UPI— A Warsaw laundry operator was accused in a civil suit today of using $41,500 in Fort Wayne Shrine relief funds for personal and business purposes. The Crescent Relief Association, a group of nine Fort Wayne Shriners 'who conduct charity lotteries, accused Frederick Flugene Bonnett of taking the money for himself and his White Swan laundry here. The claim suit asked return of $20,000. Bennett is a past potenate of the Fort Wayne Shrine and is secretary of the Crescent relief group. The suit was filed in Kosciusko circuit court. 1 Three Bibles made the news In 1948—a1l of them published by the American Bible Society.
