Pleasant Mills, are the parents of a baby girl, weighing 6 pounds, 4% ounces, born at 8:20 a.m. today at the local hospital. She has not been named. Often we learn compassion only thru suffering.

Wildcat Strike At Studebaker Plant Production Halted At South Bend Plant South Bend. Ind., Jan. 21 —(UP) —Production at the Studebaker Corp, was virtually at a standstill today as CIO Uni’ed Auto Workers walked out in what was described as a dispute over wages. Company officials said "nearly a’.l” of 16,000 production workers in the passenger car and truck divisions were idled by a dispute involving workers in the seat manufacturing department. P. O. Peterson, vice president in charge of manufacturing, said the dispute was “over piece workrates.” He said “substantially tjje whole plant is down." A work stoppage in the seat department spread to two other departments yesterday, Peterson said. Workers in the body and final assembly divisions at first refused to work yesterday hut finally decided to stay on the job, according to Peterson.
