CATHERINE STUDY CLUB MEETS The St. Catherine discussion club of the St. Mary s parish unit of the N. C. C. W. held its regular meeting -Monday at the home of Helen Geimer, wi h Pat Titus as chairman. The meeting was opened with prayer, after which plans for the year were discussed. The next meeting will be held February 21 at the home of Mary Ellen Lengerich, with Helen Geimer as chairman. < ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR FIRST LADY OF YEAR Mrs. Martin Weiland has been named general chairman by Beta Sigma Phi sorority i t charge of the selection of the first lady of the rear in Decatur. -Mrs. Weiland wil be assisted by: special commit ee. The members of Beta Sigma Phi in Decatur are not eligible for the award which will go to a non-member strictly on the merit of individual sccomplishment. The Internationa' organization’s certificate of rec ignition will be awarded publicly if er the final selection has been made within a few weeks. MRS. BERT HALEY HOSTESS TO CLUB The Decatur Homo Economics club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bort Haley. The meeting, conducted by the presi lent, Mrs. R. C. Hersh, opened with the chib creed and song. During the business meeting plans were made to attend the Jane Weston program in Fort Wayne on January 26. Members planning to attend ar% asked to contact Mrs. Hersh. Cheer sisters were revealed, and a report on the new county nurse was given by Mrs. Hersh. Mrs. J. E. Oelberg and Mrs. Max Schafer had charge of the lesson “Remodeling Old Clothes and the Care of Fur Coats." The meeting was closed with the group singing the song of the month "Auld Lang Syne," and repeating the club collect. Mrs. Delmas Elzey was awarded the door prize. Lovely refreshments were later served the following hostesses, Mrs. Bert Haley. Mrs. Ralph J. Roop. Mrs. Harmon Gillig, Mrs. Robert Gay and Mrs. Minnie Teeple. Correction The announcement in Wednesday night s Daily Democrat concerning the engagement of Pat y Ann Johnson and Doyle Strayer was evidently mailed to this office by a practical jokester. Fathers of both young people stated today that the announcement was in error. Judge and Mrs. Earl B. Adams left today for Indianapolis, where they will spend a week. The Adams law office will be closed during the period. Harold Burger, of Decatur, and two Bluffton friends. Earl Lee Andrews and Harold Minnich, are reportedly stranded in Lordsburg.

The elevator at Craigville was broken into Tuesday night and a carpenter’s plan® and forty pennies stolen. It is believed to have been juveniles who became frightened and ran away leaving their flashlight. Eugene Heimann, of Decatur and Lores Steury, of Berne are enrolled in the eight weeks winter short course in the school of agriculture at Purdue University. The course extends until February 25. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fay are the parents of a baby boy, born last evening at 5:52 o’clock at the Adams county memorial hospital. He has not been named.
