'Dairy Day' In This City On March 9 'Dairy Caravan' To Stop In This City Safe milk in the home by home pasteurization will be one of several exhibits of interest to farm women when "dairy day” is held 1 March 9 at the Decatur high school i auditorium. A big thermometer will be displayed showing the necessary tern- 1 peratures to control typhoid, dysen-1 tery, septic sore throat and many | other diseases carried in raw milk, i The Purdue University "dairy j caravan” to stop here for "dairy ■ day” will be composed of eight dis-1 plays from the university and a number of Purdue specialists who will discuss problems related to the dairy industry and answers specific questions. Anna K. Williams, Adams county home agent, announces that farm women have a very definite part in the dairy program and will be interested to know that pasteurization does not injure the flavor or harm the food value of milk. It improves the keeping quality of milk, but the housewife must understand that pasteurization does not remove the need for healthy cows on the farm. Other “dairy caravan” exhibits will be “control of cattle crubs” by three methods, spraying, washing and dusting; “farm safety,” a guide to prevent dairy accidents and injuries; “methods of curing hay,” a comparison of the different curing methods to prevent heavy loss of its nutritive value; "ladino,” a demonstration of seeding and management and this clover’s! value in pastures; “herd health,” I a demonstration of “why cows leave home" or why Indiana dairymen are forced to raise 60 percent more heifers for replacement under existing conditions, than is actually necessary, and “artificial breeding,” an exhibit showing its place as a permanent step in progressive dairying. 74-Pound Jew Fish Caught By Berne Man Berne, Jan. 18 — Raymond Kipfer of northwest of Berne has just returned from a fishing trip to Floridg.
